Signing On To The “Name And Shame” Policy

Gotta love this chutzpah:

Invoking his own name-and-shame policy, President Barack Obama warned the nation’s mayors on Friday that he will “call them out” if they waste the money from his massive economic stimulus plan.

“The American people are watching,” Obama told a gathering of mayors at the White House. “They need this plan to work. They expect to see the money that they’ve earned — they’ve worked so hard to earn — spent in its intended purposes without waste, without inefficiency, without fraud.”

This from a guy who just signed into law the biggest waste, fraud and abuse bill ever concocted by our so-called representatives in Washington DC.

  • I said this yesterday, and I think it pretty much sums it up:

    I’ll just say right now….

    Not. Gonna. Happen.

There isn’t a single project in the history of government that hasn’t been riddled with waste, fraud, abuse, political favoritism, and inefficiency. It goes as far back as the financing for the Revolutionary War.

For Obama to say that he will ensure that there won’t be any waste in the biggest single spending package in American history is entirely disengenous. He has to know that this is impossible, and any examples he does end up citing in the future will be mere sacrificial lambs compared to the real waste going on.

So, you know, don’t insult our intelligence Mr. President.

But, you know, just words, just speeches.

  • “Name and shame” isn’t a bad idea, really.  Imagine the results if he applied this to Congress, publicly naming members who divert millions to their pet projects.

Somehow, I don’t think that this will happen.

    • Wasn’t that one of McCain’s campaign promises?

Is he also going to name the folks in all the bureaucracies who waste funds?

  • Obama is the Milli Vanilli president.   He can always deny everything he said, because he was only lip synching the whole time.

Ever wonder why Obama lacks a consistent and cohesive theme?   Because if he ever spilled his true beliefs and goals the Obama story might end rather badly.

  • They expect to see the money that they’ve earned — they’ve worked so hard to earn — spent in its intended purposes without waste, without inefficiency, without fraud.”

How quaint, NOW he invokes the American people and how hard we work for our money  (not that he’s ever had to work a real day in his life….)

  • The only people that can call out Obama for fiscal irresponsibility (stupidity) will be the voters. President Obama is going to call out the big cities  mayors – the leaders of his grassroots re-election network – for fiscal irresponsibility? Ya, right!  This is the greatest piece of political in history. What does Obama do for an encore next year?

The Obama adminstration is having too much fun campaigning than governing!
