Free Markets, Free People

Quote Of The Day

Reports are out that Obama had this to say at a meeting of CEOs of major banks last week in the White House:

As first reported by Politico’s Eamon Javers, and confirmed by ABC News with industry sources, some bankers gave explanations for the industry’s high salaries, such as “competing for talent on an international market.”

But, President Obama cut them off.

“My administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks,” the president told them.

The gall of that statement is staggering. Imagine the sheriff inciting a crowd against the businesses of a town and then running to the business owners and telling them, “I’m the only thing between you and the pitchforks”.

Obama’s fingerprints are all over those pitchforks.

  • With that and the way he denigrated all of us in France today, well, I can’t say what’s on my mind…

  • Obama would murder his parents then plead for leniency because he’s an orphan.

  • And for those of us who have studied Soros and Alinsky and have been pointing out all along that Obama was going to follow that playbook, we get what prize?

I mean come on, it’s not that hard. Obama’s not a bright man. He’s going right off the playbook. If Republicans can’t compete when the other team’s playbook has been handed to them, they deserve to fail and be sent to the re-education camps. Seize their assets and enslave their children.

  • Not that it’s a smart thing to antagonize the president of the United States, but I must say that, if I was some bigshot, I’d have to tell that jug-eared mother f***er something like,

“A lot of corporations gave you and your party a lot of money in the last election.  We give money to politicians, frankly, because we expect to get preferential treatment from them when they make and enforce the law.  All we’ve gotten from you is threats, ill-treatment, and use as a whipping boy.  So, listen up, dips**t: no more.  You go back to Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd and the rest of your comrades who’ve taken our money and treated us like lepers in return and tell them that none of you will get one thin dime from us ever again.  In fact, we will spend every spare penny we have to see that all of you are thrown out of office in your next election, and that there won’t be any cushy boardroom or lobbyist job waiting when you’re out on your big ears.  Further, we will launch a PR campaign against you that will make McCain’s campaign commercials look like love songs.  By the time we’re done, those pitchforks will be raised against Y-O-U.

“You have f***ed with the wrong people, buddy, and you’re about to find out just how big a mistake you made.”

TAO may be vain enough and stupid enough to think that he can antagonize Wall Street indefinitely, but the trash on Capitol Hill know where their money comes from.

Or perhaps I overestimate how much clout Wall Street has.

  • “My administration is the only thing between you and the pitchforks,” the president told them.

To which they replied, “Thanks Mr. President.  At least now we know that they will lynch you … first”

  • In response, how about “You will be out of office in 3 1/2 years and relevant in office for maybe 1 1/2 years.  You’re not the only one keeping score.”
