Specter – Sometimes You Get What You Pay For

Personally I find this mighty funny. Arlen Specter on Meet the Press with David Gregory:

Gregory: It was reported this week that when you met with the President, you said, “I will be a loyal Democrat; I support your agenda.” Let me test that on probably one of the most important areas of his agenda and that’s healthcare. Would you support healthcare reform that puts up a government-run public plan to compete with a private plan issued by a private insurance company.

Specter: No. And you misquote me, David. I did not say I would be a loyal Democrat. I did not say that. And last week, after I said I was changing parties, I voted against the budget because the budget has a way to pass healthcare with 51 votes, which undermines a basic Senate institution to require 60 votes to impose cloture on key issues.

You know, I’ve seen some pathetic politicians in my time, but there are few that rival Arlen Specter. My guess is he ends up in a Democratic primary and looses that. From RINO to DINO, it’s clear that the only thing Arlen Specter stands for is Arlen Specter. Personally I think the Republicans should send the Democrats a thank you card for taking him off their hands.

  • Specter is an incredibly loser and shameless political hack.  It will be wonderful to see him lose to either Toomey or Tom Ridge in 2010.

There is a silly look at the ‘Real’ reasons Specter left at:

  • The only thing that could have made this whole thing better, would have been him making the announcement on April 1st.

  • Yep, and as further proof of what an idiot Specter is….

    there’s this.
I guess if we’d been closer to Christopher Reed’s birthday he could have thrown in either having him walk or rise from the dead but for the GOP as an encore.

Bu-bye Arlen, I sure won’t miss you, can you please GO faster?

    • Sorry, Chris…REEVE….REEVE….

I’m an idiot (make a note if you have to)

  • A principled moderate, we need more like em – and fewer wingnuts.

    • Since Specter displays a lot of the the qualities of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid,  you’re welcome to him.

    • . . . principled . . .

I don’t think that word means what you think it means . . .

    • Did you really just use the word “principled” in reference to guy who switched parties solely because he knew he’d get killed in the primary if he didn’t?

Thanks for the laugh! That, along with the Caps winning game 2, made my night…

  • China joins the “Tea Party”
“… up until last month they were the number one provider of currency to the United States and now they’re gone.”

  • Specter made it clear in an interview I heard on a local Philly radio station, that he was not going to let PA Republicans decide if he got to stay in the Senate (he was going to face a tough challenge in the primary).  This is all about him keeping his Senate seat.

I don’t think he realised the Democrats in PA might not want him, either.

  • The guy is 79 years old.  If you were 79, wouldn’t you prefer to spend your time relaxing and enjoying life?  Especially if you were rich?  But not Specter.  He’s too addicted to power to give it up easily.

I think we need to vote them all out of power.

  • I realize this sounds like sour grapes now, but in the months to come, people who cheered Specter’s party switch will ask, “Can we get him to switch back?”
Nah, liberals. He is your a$$hole now. You put up with his tirades and rants.

  • Bwaaahahahahahahaaa!!!

    Enjoy, Lefties!

  • I am old enough to remember when Arlen went after Anita Hill.  In retrospect, it was obvious Hill was telling the truth.  A jury would have convicted CT in five minutes.

The more interesting issue is whether wing nuts are more hypocritical for disowning AS in spite of his going to the wall for wingnuts’ favorite justice, or libs for embracing him despite the same reasons.

    • I am old enough to have watched the hearings too, dude.  My only question of you is what jury were you on?  I thought AH was a lying tool of the feminist movement.  I suspect there were at least as many folks with my view as there were for yours.  Else, the Senate would not have confirmed him.

  • Boy, ol’ Specter should quit while he’s ahead.

Specter hints Kemp died of GOP agenda

I’m terribly fearful of a Democrat monolith unhindered by the filibuster, but this guy is just becoming more loathsome by the minute.

  • pedro doesn’t care if there’s a D or an R after the honorable senator’s name.  just as long as he gets to the bottom of the most important issue of our time –  discovering exactly how those dastardly new england patriots stole philly’s lombardi trophy.  you know they did, we had a one legged wr. we had freddie mitchell for crying out loud!  and that guy blowing chunks on the sideline.  of course they cheated. let’s get to the bottom of this, muy pronto!
