Darn Right-Wing Militias

Via The Jawa Report, a little “domestic terrorism” update. First St. Louis:

A federal search warrant obtained by the Post-Dispatch connects a former Democratic campaign strategist to a Clayton bombing last year that seriously injured an attorney.

About two months after the October bombing, federal law enforcement officials searched the downtown loft of Milton H. “Skip” Ohlsen III, seeking “evidence related to the planning, execution, and/or cover-up of the bombing in Clayton, Missouri, on October 16, 2008.” Ohlsen in recent weeks has been at the center of a swirling political scandal that is threatening the political careers of at least two Missouri Democratic legislators.

Then, Austin, Texas:

A Texas woman faces trial this month in Austin on charges she threatened to kill a government informant who infiltrated an Austin-based group that planned to bomb the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., last fall…

…Crowder and McKay were part of a group of activists that had gone to the Twin Cities to take part in street demonstrations. The FBI had infiltrated the group with Darby. Crowder and McKay built eight of the gasoline firebombs but didn’t use them, a fact law enforcement officials credited to Darby.

Members of the Austin protest community heaped scorn on Darby, saying he had betrayed longtime friends and colleagues.

I’m headed over to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s website to see what they have to say about these right-wingers and their hate crimes …. oh, wait …

  • Yep, more horsecrappola from the dimwitted Left. There appear to be only “right wing” terrorists, but when leftwingers blow stuff up and terrorize people it is because they are really, really committed to their goals.

  • In the meantime, I just got back home, and find this in my e-mail inbox…

    See it, or link here:

Well, lookee here…Dick Morris is saying that Dems could lose 100 seats next year.

Wait…who predicted that first? Could it have been little old me?

  • No terrorists on the left. Only concerned citizens.

There’s an agenda to promote, and this doesn’t fit into the picture they want to paint.

  • I can’t believe you dense rightie fuddy duddies would get upset over these minor incidents. The whole Austin thing was obviously just some game or role playing by young activists who are frustrated that we don’t have Obama’s healthcare bill already in place. The Missouri thing was probably some kind of accident.

But you thick righties immediately jump to conclusions and throw around “terrorism” labels, which you are clearly not qualified to do. The holy writ of post-modernism and critical theory tell us that the real terrorists are on the right. Sure, young kids may be discovering the joys of leftist activism for the first time and go a bit overboard. Why, I have to rein in my students sometimes, when they start calling for the death of right-wingers in class. But that’s not terrorism! It’s just youthful enthusiasm. Besides, by the holy principle of moral equivalence, one incident of a right winger yelling at a congressman is equal to a hundred exuberant activists going a bit over the line by building bombs.

The Southern Poverty Law Center understands all this, of course, and they have godlike powers of political science just like me, so you really ought not to diss them on this. They furnish an invaluable service highlighting right-wing terrorism, which is the only genuine kind, and you righties ought to be thankful that they are tabulating all these things so you can cleanse your own ranks. I’m not sure how many would be left after you did that, considering how many on the right are ex-military basket cases who probably suffer constant flashbacks requiring them to keep their weapons pointed at everyone they meet, but if we’re going to have genuine, content-laden discussions between the two sides, the right really needs to suppress their domestic terrorists. And the left might sometimes chide their exuberant youth from time to time. See how moderate and pragmatic I am to see both sides of the issue?

  • And then there’s this: “One of two people suspected of shattering 11 windows Tuesday morning at the state Democratic Party headquarters has an arrest record and a history of helping a Democratic political candidate, public records show.”
