Snicker-worthy

I’m sorry, I just can’t help myself – sometimes nature provides us with the best situational irony and this case is just hilarious:

A downtown protest of the climate change talks in Copenhagen became a victim of Wednesday’s snowstorm.

“Not many people showed up because of the blizzard conditions,” said organizer Clea Major, an international studies student at the University of Utah.

It didn’t take long for the six friends to pack up a bullhorn and posters they’d planned to use for their “scream-in,” an outlet for their frustration about the failure of the Copenhagen climate talks earlier this month to curb the pollution blamed for climate change.

Damn global warming.

  • Will these idiots never learn? Every time they get a snowed-out global warming protest, they damage their own propaganda.

They ought to be scheduling their protests for July in southern Texas.

  • As a former Utah resident, I can tell you, it must have been one hell of a storm to shut things down. Utahns are generally used to snow. Or maybe these nutcases are just pansies.
One time I drove to the “U.” and was surprised to find classes were cancelled, the first time in 20 years. It took a foot of snow.

    • Not necessarily; not all the attendees would have been from Utah just because the organizer was.  In the East they shut down school for a few inches of snow, because their roads suck and become dangerous with that little amount of snow.  And there’s no indication that the organizer is a Utah native; she could be attending the U from out of state.
But you’re right about Utahns and snow.  You should have seen the Tea Party crowd on April 15 in the middle of a snow storm.  I brought 3 of my 4 kids and we only left because we had to pick the fourth up from school.

    • Oh, and just to keep up the intrastate rivalry, it took a foot AND A HALF of snow to shut down Utah State University.  And that only shut it down because it knocked out the power to the campus.  Without power, the classrooms were dark.  If there had been power, we wouldn’t have canceled classes.

  • Someday the climate will wisen-up and match those damn models!  Clearly the weather is also on the payroll of the evil fossil fuel companies.

  • RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – Forecasters say the coldest stretch of weather in years if not decades could be heading for North Carolina. While temperatures won’t be falling to record lows, the National Weather Service says the duration of the cold weather is unusual. Highs could struggle to get above freezing for the next week in areas from Raleigh west. Forecasters say there are some indications the weather with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens could last up to two weeks. A cold snap like that was last seen in January 1977.

  • If they have to resort to a “scream-in”, it’s a good metric of the validity of their position.

  • ZOMG snow, alert this guy!
