Denny Hastert calls meeting for all male Republicans in the House of Representatives

Just kidding. Actually, the headline is:

Pelosi Calls All Female Democratic Members Into Meeting

Naturally, if my headline had been the real one, back when Hastert was speaker, the media would have done their best to hound him out of his office for being a misogynist.

I’m guessing that the media won’t really have much to say about Pelosi’s meeting, though.

Personally, I don’t care what kind of meetings they have as long as they don’t try to pass bills without voting for them, don’t pass unconstitutional individual mandates to buy health insurance, and avoid similar shenanigans. It’s just the pervasive double standard of the left-leaning media that gets on my nerves.

  • Are members of the White Caucus attending?

  • It’s one thing when those who hold most of the power in society band together, it’s another when those who have been kept down in the past do.   That’s why you have an NAACP, but no National Association for the Advancement of White People.   Seriously, it’s really sad when those in the privileged group mock the situation of others.  Pelosi is the first female Speaker.   And that’s in over 220 years.  That should tell you something about the role of women in society.

    • Resign your post and allow a female to replace you if you feel so bad about it.
and I don’t know about you, but I have been bossed and controlled by enough females in my life not to consider them downtrodden.

    • You’re so globingly politically correct, Scott. And such an oppressor!

You’ve stolen the hope of millions just by advancing on the strength of your white privilege. How many, how many suffer in anonymity because of the privileges your ancestors stole from them and bestowed on you.

There’s not a poor kid selling dope on any streetcorner in America who couldn’t know as little as you do about your own field, bend the truth like rubber, and certainly do it with considerably more economy of thought. But you sit there in all your smugness, having snatched the hope right from him, not to mention the hope you’ve stolen from a thousand lesbians.

Hide yourself in shame in your Volvo!

      • Scott, while you are hiding in the Volvo, take the ultimate step to end your role in the oppressor class and run an exhaust hose in through the window.  You could type out a note while the fumes take hold.  Lord knows it would be one of your shortest posts and possibly more coherent than your usual drivel.

    • What is with you?  Street cred for you fellow travelors in the Teachers Lounge?  Show those upstart mouth-breathing neocons the true meaning of being Politically Correct?

Maybe, instead of swatting at flies at a Blog site, you should ask yourself why it is such an event that the media pays attention to it and even Drudge highlights it.

Seems McQ did – to his credit.

    • “But we have to pass the bill to find out what is in it”

220 years and this is the best we can do?
      We should have waited longer.

    • Scott, I am a woman in society.  Moreover, I’m a pro-choice, pro-gun, tea-partying libertarian pagan.  And I’m here to say that you are completely full of sh*t.  We’ve had the vote for half a century now and we’re not a minority.  We have all the power we need to effect any changes we, as a gender, really want to effect.  Stop treating us as if we were helpless infants incapable of accomplishing anything without your condescending patronage.  It’s insulting, especially coming from a simpering know-nothing like yourself.
      .
Identity politics is identity politics is identity politics.  It doesn’t matter what that identity is, it matters what your intentions are.  Advancing your identity’s interests in synergy with the whole = good.  Advancing your identity’s interests at the expense of the whole = bad.

  • I guess she’s assuming she can apply increased peer pressure when its ‘just the girls’.

She’s probably right.  Anytime I’ve stumbled into a gather of women unexpectedly, they tend to look at you like you have two heads and a tail.

    • I don’t know that she will have much luck using the “just us girls” route.  As a wise man once said to me, “Women could band together and rule the world.   Too bad they can’t stop stabbing each other in the back long enough to do it.”   Women hate each other.  It is the damnedest thing.

      • We don’t hate each other any more than men hate each other.  We just tend more toward backstabbing than socking someone in the nose to express our dislike.

        • I disagree.  Contrary to popular opinion, I see a lot of natural community among men in which they can be genuinely happy for each other’s successes without jealousy and envy.  My wife points out to me that she just does not see that in groups of women.   As she often states, “Groups of men seem to genuinely enjoy being around one another and working together.  Women, reluctantly work together and are constantly judging one another.”

  • I am reminded that included among the House “girls” is Marcy Captor (D-OH), who set the tone for the infamous Senate deals (Louisiana Purchase and Cornhusker Kickback) with a $3 billion Cuyahoga Cash-In to get the House version of Obamacare passed.

  • Dude, a thought strikes me.
I think Erb comments here simply to suck our time away in replying to him.

    • I agree, which is why I reply only sporadically to his nonsense and then insult him to the hilt when I do. Taking him seriously plays right into his narcissitic craving for attention and his pathological need to have people to talk down to.

Plus, trying to clear up all his errors and misconceptions is akin to cleaning the Augean stables.

      • I used to think Erb was a construct of McQuain’s or Dale’s to drive more discussion.  I couldn’t believe someone as wrong headed as Scott Erb could be real.  He is still just another net troll, and as such should not be fed.

  • We need to come up with a better descriptor than “hypocrisy” which just doesn’t cut it anymore.
