Benjamin Netanyahu has decided that he’s been treated like trailer trash long enough:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has canceled a planned trip to Washington next week to take part in President Barack Obama’s 47-country nuclear security summit conference.

The ostensible reason for the very public cancellation?

He made the decision after learning that Egypt and Turkey intended to raise the issue of Israel’s presumed nuclear arsenal at the conference, a senior government official said on Friday.

Israel is believed to be the only nuclear-armed power in the Middle East but has never confirmed or denied that it possesses atomic weapons. It has not signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT).

That’s the official reason – and there may be a grain of truth to it.  It’s Obama’s summit. But given the treatment Obama has given Israel lately, I’m sure Netanyahu has no illusions about his previously staunch US ally stepping in and stopping any such attempted hijacking of the summit by Egypt and Turkey.  Of course, Israel wouldn’t be the only nation there which hasn’t signed the NPT (India and Pakistan).

Probably more importantly though, the summit and nuclear non-proliferation are a pet project of Obama’s.  Israel is choosing to display its displeasure with Obama and the way it has been treated recently (see visa story below as well) by visibly and publicly downgrading their level of participation to Deputy Prime Minister level.  Or at least that’s the way I see it.

In hardball, both sides get a chance on the mound.

  • Guess that Bibi also has “steel”, right Erb?

  • This is all going according to Obama’s brilliant plan. If you don’t believe me, just ask Scott Erb. He will set you strait.

    • One participant in negotiations said that the administration’s tactic was to present what one described as a madman theory of the presidency” in which the President is someone to be feared because he was willing to do anything to get his way.

… and that was the situation regarding Chrysler’s creditors.
President “I Won” will wake up one fine morning to find that America has no friends any more, and George W. Bush will go down in history as being “nuanced” in his foreign policy.

  • Now that I think about it, Israel is one of the countries that Obama decided NOT to include in the “do what you want and we won’t nuke you” category.  Since Israel isn’t a NPT signatory, they are in the same list as Iran and Korea.  That might have something to do with this too.

  • Barry Soetoro: Raised by Communists, educated by Marxists, job training by Domestic Terrorists, Worshipped in a church led a by a rabid Anti–Semite, bigot.
And you were expecting… a Constitutionalist?
The Jackass is such an appropriate mascot, is it not?

    • I honestly don’t know what I was expecting. I wasn’t expecting anything good, but what we got is closer to what I though worst case was. Every indication was that Obama was a radical leftist. I though reality would force him to trend more to the center. Obama seems to make few consessions to reality, however.

I recall reading neo-neocon, since I like her writing. I was a bit miffed at her, since I felt she was missing his radicalism. Not any longer: she now perceives that Obama is indeed a leftist radical.

Like other leftists, Obama has little restraint from things like the rule of law. Like Erb says, “rights are what we decide they are”. I have yet to meet a leftist who cares about Constitutional restrictions. The only aspect of the Constitution that interests a leftist is whatever can be used against Republicans. Beyond that, the Constitution has no value to them, and the same is true for individual rights. And rule of law.

  • Yeah, Dumbass in the WH hates Jews, and hates Israel, but a new poll shows Jews in the US still favor him.
Now, I am saying this before anyone accuses me of anti-Semitism: I am a Jew, from a long, long line of liberal Jews, who saw the light and didn’t fall for the leftwing crappola that my family did. That being said…
Thank you for allowing me that rant.
    Now, back to other bizness.
Dawn Johnsen, Dumbass’ nominee for the DOJ Office of Legal Counsel, withdrew her nomination because she is a piece of EFFING COW DUNG and HORSE MANURE and couldn’t get confirmed:

Good riddance, you piece of EFFING CRAP!!!
Hey! Thanks for allowing me to spew. I sure needed that.

    • I’m mostly of German decent (mostly Germans who came over in time to be on the good side of the American Revolution), so I’m not sure if I should comment on Jews. The real Jews I know would not have supported Obama. I knew a few “Jews”at university who probably would vote for Obama, but none of these “Jews” ever prayed or otherwise practiced any religion.

I had at lest one “Jew” friend who is pro Israel, but also a liberal democrat. He had some sense, and was bothered when Clinton had IRA terrorists in the White House. I suspect he is sitting somewhere, typing an e-mail for Obama, explaining why the current Administration’s course of action with respect to Israel is wrong. He is no doubt confused, wondering why such a great, wise, and “progessive” man as Obama is so wrong on Isreal, and he no doubt thinks that all it will take is a well reasoned argument to change Obama’s course.
