Quote of the Day – The Taliban did it edition

Apparently – even after the Taliban of Pakistan claimed responsibility in a video recorded before the bombing attempt in Times Square – the US finally believes they were involved:

“We’ve now developed evidence that shows that the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attack,” [Attorney General Eric] Holder said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.”

“We know that they helped facilitate it,” the attorney general said. “We know that they probably helped finance it. And that he was working at their direction.”

Well there you go.  We also know that they’re either lousy bomb makers or lousy teachers or both, as well — thank goodness.   The other thing to remember is this attempt wasn’t thwarted – it failed.

Just like the “underpants bomber”.

  • I guess the Taliban were upset over the healthcare bill, right Mayor Bloomberg?

  • I’ve heard that he couldn’t pay mortgage. He couldn’t afford high quality bombs either. Blame it on the economy, cripes!

    See!  Our security system works!
I wonder if Janet Napolitano could see Mexico from her front porch when she was governor of Arizona.

  • There’s also something about this whole thing that doesn’t add up, and I’m not holding my breath waiting for Eric Holder to figure it out.

It makes me very uncomfortable the way some of these people, like Bloomberg, run so happily with the incompetent narrative. Maybe this guy was incompetent because he was supposed to be incompetent. Maybe he actually followed his instructions perfectly and got the exact result his handlers wanted. A smoke bomb instead of a blast with enough feedback to educate the entire class back in Waziristan.

The next SUV plunked on target at Times Square is not likely going to be a dud, so someone out there in the counterterrorism bureaucracies had better wake the hell up, like yesterday.

    • Another interesting thing is Shazam wasn’t IN the vehicle when the critical moment arrived.  Not much of a suicide bomber, no sincere dedication to show,  unlike the crotch bomber who was clearly NOT going to walk away from his efforts if he was successful.  I’ll wager the next attempt will again involve someone who’s out to collect on his option to 72 virgins.
It’s troubling that ‘the clutz’ never intended to go up with the car, and that he thought he could fly back to Taliban central for what could only be an earthly reward for his efforts.   This guy is a low caliber terrorist in several ways, we should wonder WHY.
