Quote of the Day–Nancy Pelosi’s final lie edition

Seriously, this is just a shameless lie.  Nancy Pelosi at her final news conference as Speaker of the House summing up the House’s priorities under he leadership:

"Deficit reduction has been a high priority for us. It is our mantra, pay-as-you-go."

No. It hasn’t.

When the Pelosi Democrats took control of Congress on January 4, 2007, the national debt stood at $8,670,596,242,973.04. The last day of the 111th Congress and Pelosi’s Speakership on December 22, 2010 the national debt was $13,858,529,371,601.09 – a roughly $5.2 trillion increase in just four years. Furthermore, the year over year federal deficit has roughly quadrupled during Pelosi’s four years as speaker, from $342 billion in fiscal year 2007 to an estimated $1.6 trillion at the end of fiscal year 2010.

  • “Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?”

Why does Nancy Pelosi remind me of Thomas Becket ?

  • Nancy Pelosi – yet ANOTHER walking talking example of progressive dementia.  If she ever decides to retire from Congress (who knows, that animatronic circuitry could last for years more!) she can get a job with any of the top rated shows on MSNBC.

  • For some people, its the thought that counts. She thinks she was spending money wisely, thus she actually did spend wisely. Most people do follow their own thoughts but occasionally check the data a.k.a. reality. Or maybe she doesn’t even think that, but believes if she says it, it counts.

    • I’m more cynical.  The media has her back.  She knows it.  They will paint the Republicans as fiscally irresponsible.

In fact, yesterday some Democrat was being interviewed yesterday lambasting the Republicans for raising the debt ceiling to the highest its every been in history.  How horrible its been in just a few days.

      • I recall Clinton balancing the budget. It had nothing to do with the Republican Congress, of course.

And Bush’s 2008 budget was truely awful, and not the least bit the fault of any Democrat Congress.

        • Don’t worry, I’ve already seen stories decrying the GOP “failure” to decrease unemployment.

We’re through the looking glass with these “people”

          • An op-ed in the Times complained about all the hoopla …
Let’s check out that 2007 coverage of Speaker Pelosi …

WASHINGTON, Jan. 1 — During her first 100 hours as House speaker, Nancy Pelosi has vowed, she will sweep an aggressive legislative agenda through the newly Democratic-controlled House.
            But first comes Pelosi-palooza.
In a three-day stretch of whirlwind events beginning on Wednesday, Mrs. Pelosi will celebrate her heritage (at the Italian Embassy), her faith (in a Roman Catholic Mass), her education (at Trinity College), her childhood (in Baltimore) and her current home (in a tribute by the singer Tony Bennett, of “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” fame).

Funny how the Times reviled in “Pelosi-palooza”

        • This explains a lot of the “Clinton balanced budget” numbers.

Resolution Trust Corp (RTC) Cash Flow, 1988-1999
          1988: -$10 billion
          1989: -$22 billion
          1990: -$58 billion
          1991: -$66 billion
          1992: +$14 Million
          1993: +$28 billion
          1994: +$8 billion
          1995: +$18 billion
          1996: +$8 billion
          1997: +$14 billion
          1998: +$4 billion
          1999: +$5 billion

      • The House should vote down the “debt ceiling” just to put the fear of the “Chinese” in them all.

      • That’s sorta what I was trying to say with “Or maybe she doesn’t even think that, but believes if she says it, it counts.”

    • Maybe she’s using the typical Democrat thought process on increases – “we were going to increase spending by 100%, but then we only increased it by 50%.  This was how CUT spending by 50%”

    • Naw, She is just a lying sack of shit.  Occams Razor, She is a leftist, she is a politician, and she says things that are not true. Don’t need any fancy explanations.

      • “Never ascribe to malice what may be explained by incompetence.  Total, irremedial, talking-to-little-blue-men-that-nobody-else-can-see, batsh*t-crazy mental incompetence.”

To think that this lunatic was only two heartbeats from the presidency.

Oh, wait… Would we have been able to tell the difference???

  • There’s a story on Drudge Report on how Pelosi spent the last 4 day as Speaker of the House in a 1ok $ a night resort in at a luxurious resort in Hawaii at taxpayer expense, Is this her attempt as her held in reducing the National debt ?

    • Yes, she COULD have spent $15k a night.  She saved us all $5K every night by staying at that hotel!  You try saving $5k a night, it’s incredible!   If we had more politicians like that, the debt would be paid off in no time through their savings alone!

  • Call it: Reaping the harvest of a pathological liar.

  • The GOP should make the price of raising the debt ceiling very high for the Democrats.  Like attaching repeal of Obamacare to it.
