Dear Mr. Holder …

Something you should know by now:

things that require an ID

One thing to add – these things require a valid picture ID.

Other places requiring valid picture IDs include the Department of Justice building and Michelle Obama’s book signings.

  • ‘Non-phophet orgs” – had a good chuckle when I saw that ;-)

    • Yeah, me, too!
Some OTHER things you need picture ID for…
Entering ANY Federal courthouse (that I’ve seen)
Selling scrap metal (in some states) (!!!???)

      • In Illinois, a law requiring a photo ID and signing of a log to obtain “caustic drain cleaner” just went into effect.

    • Many of the “Phophet Orgs” now require training and a background check (which probably includes a photo ID check)

  • At a House Judiciary Committee oversight hearing Thursday, Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.) asked Holder about the practice, which has been standard procedure at most, if not all, federal courthouses for the last decade or so.
“If I were to go to the federal courthouse here in D.C., either as a party or as an attorney, wouldn’t I have to show a government-issued photo ID?” Lungren asked.
“That’s not been my experience, here in DC. I don’t–you know,” Holder replied.
“Some federal courts—are you aware that’s required in some federal courts in this land?” Lungren said.
    “I don’t know,” Holder replied.
“Is your Justice Department investigating the discriminatory effect of those laws?” Lungren asked, after citing other places where one is told to show ID, like the airport and even when visiting the Justice Department itself.

USAG Eric Holder has “plausible stupidity.”   I feel so safe now.

    • “USAG Eric Holder has “plausible stupidity.”
Thanks that clears up a lot.

“That’s not been my experience, here in DC. I don’t–you know,” Holder replied.
Well as AG of the U.S. Mr. Holder you also are driven by and guarded by either U.S. Marshals or the Secret Service, to any court house you need to visit.  Your vehicle is driven to the underground parking area and you disembark and go up in a private secure elevator.  So it’s easy to see why you haven’t had the experience, here in DC.

      • He’s not just an outlaw…  He’s an out-of-touch outlaw!  And, really…not very bright.

        • I differ. It takes brains to play that dumb. I was going to ask how he could get through a confirmation hearing if he was that dumb but then I realized- intelligence is relative.

  • You’ve got a friend at the DOJ…

This time, the dispute stems from Holder failing to turn over documents subpoenaed on October 12, 2011 in the Fast and Furious “gunwalking” investigation.
The Justice Department has maintained it has cooperated fully with the congressional investigation, turning over tens of thousands of documents and having Holder testify to Congress on the topic at least eight times.
However, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., says the Justice Department has refused to turn over tens of thousands of pages of documents. Those include materials created after Feb. 4, 2011, when the Justice Department wrote a letter to Congress saying no gunwalking had occurred. The Justice Department later retracted the denial.
“The Obama Administration has not asserted Executive Privilege or any other valid privilege over these materials and it is unacceptable that the Department of Justice refuses to produce them. These documents pertain to Operation Fast and Furious, the claims of whistleblowers, and why it took the Department nearly a year to retract false denials of reckless tactics,” Issa wrote in an announcement of the vote to be released shortly. It will reveal the vote is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20.

“Mr. Cooperative” seems destined for the hoosegow

  • You can add “Buying over-the-counter cold medications” to the list

  • And all these requirements are for YOUR safety as citizens….heh.

Making sure the other people voting with you on election day should be allowed to cast a ballot?  Nah, not so much.  You’re safe, trust us.

  • Maybe its just my state, but it required ID to register to vote for a long time while not requiring ID to actually cast a vote.  Fortunately they require ID there too now.

    • Georgia slipped in the ID requirement before the Obama DoJ came into power. Stats show minority voting, under the ID law, has actually increased.

      • “Naw, naw, naw…” (spoken in the Rev. Wright fashion).  That CANNOT be.  And never mind all those ineligible voters they are turning up in Florida by…you know…doing what the law requires.  It is all a Teabagger myth.

    • In a 6-3 decision in 2008, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the photo ID requirement, finding it closely related to Indiana’s legitimate state interest in preventing voter fraud, modernizing elections, and safeguarding voter confidence.
Is there some known reason why Holder and the DOJ seem to go out of their way to ignore Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, 553 U.S. 181 (2008) ?

      • “Is there some known reason why Holder and the DOJ seem to go out of their way to ignore Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, 553 U.S. 181 (2008) ?”
that would be tied up in the reasons for ignoring Congress on Fast and Furious, or failing to prosecute the New Black Panther Party, or their keen interest in Trayvon’s death and lack of interest in the recent deadly shootings (http://homicides.redeyechicago.com/) in Chicago of men who might theoretically have looked like Obama’s son, if he’d had one.

        Agenda, Agenda, Agenda.

      • They are OUT-FLUCKING-LAWS.
It really is THAT simple and stark a reality.

        • What I like is the momentum that causes us to continue to treat the Department of Justice as if it’s still a useful government entity with respect to ensuring justice.

        • As an example, Congress holds him in contempt, and then they want him to appoint investigators to see who at the White Hous is leaking secret information to the press, and they want him to investigate the ‘Swatting’ of conservative bloggers.

Hello Mr. Stalin, here is a document telling you we find you to be a reprehensible man, guilty of many crimes against justice.  Now, Perhaps you would be so good as to select a man to investigate the murders of Polish officers in the Katyn Wood and then we’d like to know if you could check out the allegations that the KGB is breaking down the doors of your political enemies, you bad nasty man,  Thank you for your time and assistance in these matters.

  • Its racist to assume minorities can get the same ID as everyone else.

  • Obama Campaign Checks IDs At The Door
CLEVELAND — President Barack Obama’s presidential campaign checked the identification of the supporters attending Obama’s “framing” event at Cuyahoga Community College today.  The 1,500 supporters in attendance picked up tickets at campaign offices in Northeast Ohio beginning on Monday, though tickets to the event made no mention of an ID requirement.
Jessica Kershaw, the Obama campaign’s Ohio Press Secretary, confirmed in a statement to BuzzFeed that the campaign checked every supporter’s identification at the door.  “We checked every ID at the door to make sure it matched with the name on the ticket that supporters filled out,” she said. “We did this for every person who came in.”
