Free Markets, Free People

And then there are the irrelevant polls, like this one from Gallup

Other than political fodder, of what significance is this poll?

Americans continue to place more blame for the nation’s economic problems on George W. Bush than on Barack Obama, even though Bush left office more than three years ago. The relative economic blame given to Bush versus Obama today is virtually the same as it was last September.

Uh, so what?

Is Bush running for President?

When people enter the voting booth few if any are going to vote based on who they blame for the economic downturn.

Instead they’re much more likely to vote for the candidate they think can best turn it around.

One will have 3+ year record of failure to this point.

The election isn’t about who is to blame.  It is about who the voters think can fix it.

  • They’re still trying to set the battle space up.  All big ears has is how he needs another 4 years to fix Bush’s gross incompetence, (you racists….)
I mean, Bush was so incompetent in 2008 he didn’t even know Obama was running against him!  Talk about a clueless naif.
Beside if we elect Obama he’ll legalize marijuana, again.

  • Oy.  Just OY…!

  • Actually it was a focus group testing Dems Fall campaign strategies.
Who or what is to blame for present economic conditions.
    A. Gas Companies
    B. The Rich
    C. George W Bush
    D. Not Obama

    It’s Axlelrods MO… (circa 1994)
Host: “You still like to beat up on Bush, don’t you?”Axelrod : “It’s the only thing we have left.”

  • I don’t think the electorate’s tolerance for whining is anywhere near high enough for the “Blame Bush” strategem to work. Whining gets old in a hurry even if you’re on the same side.

    • It works to the points that some many believe it and thus will believe that the economy is not O’Buttheads fault.
You know it’s BS, and I know it’s BS, but 45% of the voting public is UTTERLY clueless.

  • I blame Clinton. He created the housing bubble more then anyone else.

  • Speaking Truth to Power:
CALLER:  It just came to my mind that Mr. Bush has got to be an absolutely incredible individual if, three years after Mr. Obama was immaculated, he still has not been able to undo all the good works that Mr. Bush did.
RUSH:  It is amazing, isn’t it?  After three-and-a-half years, everything that’s happened the last three-and-a-half years, if it’s all been Bush’s fault, don’t we have evidence enough now to know that Obama can’t deal with it. Obama doesn’t know what to do with it.  We need to elect somebody who can stand up to Bush.
    CALLER:  Absolutely.
RUSH:  This guy can’t even rescind tax cuts.  This guy can’t fix anything that Bush did.  If we reelect Obama, won’t it just be four more years of disaster caused by Bush?  Obama’s admitting he can’t fix what Bush did.  Why reelect him?  If Bush screwed it up so bad we need somebody in there that can fix it.  Obama’s been at it three-and-a-half years, he is admitting every day, and he’s gonna do it again today, that he can’t fix it.  That’s what he’s saying.
    CALLER:  Yeah.

  • It’s the artifact of the Mushroom Media’s indoctrination. Nothing less.
    And it works…very well.
