And this person votes …

Really, no words from me needed:

Chicago safer than anywhere?  C-section babies?  And that old inconvenient Constitution and stuff.  Yes indeed, let’s all go for this more “modern” way of living, okay?

You’d almost think it was a parody but it isn’t.  Just a “proud Democrat”.

So much for an informed (and semi-intelligent) electorate (and yeah, some Republicans don’t get off much easier – just ask a few running for office about rape).

  • I am in awe…..
as one of your snarkier commenters, I do believe I must bow to this man/woman whoever they may be.
I bout lost it on that natural citizen/C-section thing.  Brilliant!

This has just GOT to be snark.
Now,  if it was from a constituent of Hank Johnson’s, I might believe it was real.

    • I vote for fake.

      • Speaking of STUPID proud Democrats …
Nothing we’re going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to a thousand a year from what we’re at now,” Biden said, according to a Politico report
        .

    • Percent of all deliveries by Cesarean in the US: 32.8%
So about 1/3 of all children can’t grow up to be President ?
This certainly puts a new spin on the term “Birther”

  • While this may not be a parody, what kind of editorial board would publish it? Just how stupid have “educated” Americans become?

  • In other news, Guam is in danger of tipping over and capsizing…..

  • Naw.  Not buying it.
Pure snark.  The tell is the part about Obama coming from a more civilized place.  Comedy gold…!!!

    • Yup….definitely written by a disciple of The Onion…and done so brilliantly.  I would not be too hard on the editorial board.  They may have recognized it for what it is and decided to lighten up the Letters section of the paper.  My local rag once published a comment from a local woman who railed against Daylight saving time because the extra hour of daylight was ruining her garden.

  • This has got to be a joke, no one is that dumb. Oh, wait….

    • What almost half the electorate in the last presidential election?
I’m counting those Republicans who thought not voting was a better choice than Obama winning in that mix.

  • And these folks are probably getting the ‘government’ they actually voted for.

Remember folks, Hurricane Sandy hit in OCTOBER of 2012.   Last time I checked the Calendar, it’s now February of 2013, and people are still living in tents in New York State….in the UNITED STATES.
Maybe Barack can take time out from skeet shooting to go give out some hugs, that’ll make it all better.

    • Now if they could figure out how to make Sandy victims disappear the way the long term unemployed do, they’d be golden.

      • If you goggle “jobs council” you will see that only FoxNews reported that it closed yesterday.
There are a few reaction stories today elsewhere, but it obviously wasn’t news yesterday.
I figure by now that President Obama must be delirious and demented considering he “will not sleep” until the jobs problem is solved.

    • And the national reporting is gone.
It’s not like these folks are Southern hicks in remote towns … they are just across town in NYC

      • But MiniTrue is hard at work…Birth Control…that’s important lead story stuff.   Hostages…
and two out of the three major networks think a terrorist blowing himself up at our Ankara Embassy might be leading story newsworthy.
that must be because there’s no reasonable exception that such an attack could have been handled, I mean, an explo-di-dope doesn’t take 4 to 6 hours to warm up his attack on your embassy like they did in Benghazi.
(course I had to find out the ACTUAL story on Benghazi by reading foreign newspapers as I recall.)

  • Tongue-in-cheek, or head-up-ass? The bit about cesarean birth is an OLD joke…

  • I don’t know. You know, Guam tipping over and driving the Mars rover to the moon landing spot.

  • Y’alls sarcasm meters are broooooke!

  • I think perhaps Beaufort has their own redneck version of “Ott Scerb”, who just punked the editors of the newspaper.

  • “…a doctor having to deliver a baby in this unnatural way…”

Obviously a Shakespeare fan. Evidently only “a man born of woman” can be President. MacDuffs need not apply, since they were “from (their) mother’s womb untimely ripped”. Macbama is safe.

My money is on parody. Nobody that ignorant has spelling, grammar, and punctuation that good.

    • And a dam fine one, too. My compliments to the chef.

Scerb, you’re up. Time to defend your title.

      • Oh, man, where is Scerb, anyway?  I guess since the subject drone ran away, not much call these days…

  • ” No man of woman born shall ever harm MacBeth” ??

  • Being self employed means that I can listen to radio stations nation-wide.  And I regularly hear comments such as this.  There are many on the left that have this astounding meshing of arrogance and ignorance.  They have been mislead for so long by traditional media and entertainment that they just know they are right, a quasi-religion if you will, and proof is in their faith, not the facts.

Limbaugh has a new phrase for those he blames the re-election of Obama upon: low information voters.  I disagree.  There are low information voters on each side, about the same in size and impenetrable of mind.  I think it is the self-avowed high information voters that concern me.  We all know the type, listening to NPR on the drive to and from work, regularly reads dailys and periodicals, tunes in to the morning shows, watches the local evening news, watches 60 minutes.  Sure they get lots of information, but it is mostly wrong.  But because it comes from a source that tells the story they want to hear the way they want to hear it, its veracity is unassailable.

    • I have noticed this too. You tell them the Senate hasn’t passed a budget in 3 years and they think you are lying because they never heard of that. They have no idea how big the spending problem is and believe that taxing the rich will solve the problem completely.

  • I’ll go with fake also.

  • Let us all pause in our certainty of parody to acknowledge….it COULD be real.

In which case, as you already knew, Meine liebe damen und herren, we are well and truly scrod.

    • So its the best form of parody. I once saw a FB comment about how the person wanted to get rid of the patriarchy where such terms as deficits are used and I thought long and hard to imagine it was parody. It ended up not being parody.

  • AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/ of 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

” 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly”
To the casual observer, this statement alone would have you believe that a civil war was around the corner … or there are a shit-load of dead skeet, etc. out there

    • Chicago’s semi weekly supply for those weapons that no one can own.

    • “this statement alone would have you believe that a civil war was around the corner”
Civil War is around the corner, but we might not turn it.  The political divisions are vast and so far insolvable by the electoral process.  If one side or another did get the upper hand to a comfortable degree, then when the crisis hits, a path forward would be fairly clear.  The socialist’s path would be desperately wrong, and perhaps war would be preferable to the consequences of their success.  They might feel the same about the consequences of a red state friendly national government, when the interest rates spike.
Promises have been made which can not be kept in the original sense they were made, so they won’t be.  Someone’s getting screwed, the question to be settled is who, how, and over what time frame.
And will we change direction so it doesn’t go down this way again any time soon?
Blue state or red state, socialism or liberty, empire or republic, majoritarian tyrant or constitution?
The historical analogy that would seem to apply would be Buchanan moving military stores into unguarded southern facilities, or ones he planned on abandoning to the South.
In the event interest rates spike during Obama’s remaining term, I believe future historians will regard what you are remarking on as the pre-positioning of war material.
If the thing is won, it will still be worth it, just as the Civil and Revolutionary wars were.  If it is not won by the constitutional side, then every brave stand at Lexington, every bleeding foot at Valley Forge, every desperate second at Cowpens, each drop of sweat at Monmouth, and every grim yard dug at Yorktown, they may as well have not bothered.
      Like the song goes:
Have you ever been close to tragedy Or been close to folks who have? Have you ever felt a pain so powerful So heavy you collapse?
I’ve never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to knock on wood And I’m glad, I haven’t yet Because I’m sure it isn’t good That’s the impression that I get
Have you ever had the odds stacked up so high You need a strength most don’t possess? Or has it ever come down to do or die? You’ve got to rise above the rest
I’ve never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to knock on wood And I’m glad, I haven’t yet Because I’m sure it isn’t good That’s the impression that I get
I’m not a coward I’ve just never been tested I’d like to think that if I was I would pass
Look at the tested And think there but for the grace go I Might be a coward I’m afraid of what I might find out
I’ve never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to knock on wood And I’m glad I haven’t yet Because I’m sure it isn’t good That’s the impression that I get
I’ve never had to, but I better knock on wood ‘Cos I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if I could It makes me wonder if
I’ve never had to, I better knock on wood Because I’m sure it isn’t good And I’m glad I haven’t yet That’s the impression that I get

Can you imagine knocking on wood every day for a few years at a time?  Those of you who are combat veterans certainly can.

I think of a runner going from position to position, dodging fire and passing out ammo, and I think of the the “Clint Eastwood” lyric, “I brought all this, so you can survive, when law is lawless…”

      Oh well.

I know I would rather kill and die than see this country end, and several more Obama’s in a row, and that would be accomplishe.  Maybe, just in this term, if the seats of several more right then left justices are his to replace, and enough goes just right for the left.

If you don’t have the impression the car is careening along the edge of a cliff, the wheels are lifting up a bit on the safe side, and the ignorant and insane are grabbing for the wheel–then I’d say you aren’t paying attention.

      • Just to be perfectly clear, I’m not giving up on the political process yet.  I’m eternally an optimist.

But I feel very aware we have a diminishing margin of safety and maneuver to avoid catastrophe.

  • Oy Vey

    this country has lost it.

  • “I don’t know the statistics, but I’m quite certain that Chicago is a lot safer than Morehead City, when it comes to gun violence.”
That is pitch-perfect.  The C-section erased all my doubt that this was a joke, but then I went back and read that.  Also I think the scare quotes around “so-called” are a nice touch. My hat is off to this one.

  • The letter to an editor may be a jest.

    This is not.

And these seem like safe loans to make…

….but let the Democrats work on it for a while, see what happens.

    • Historically, home loans have been exceptionally safe, except during major financial crisis NOT caused by the collapse of, well, home loans.

  • “(T)he Constitution was written a hundred years ago”?
Er, maybe a few more than that… :p
The part about “national born” citizen and C-sections, though, that made me wonder…

  • Reminds me of crank callers who call into Christian TV or radio shows asking for prayers for a missionary named “Travis Bickle”.
