Free Markets, Free People

First they came for the beer …

You have to wonder when the real backlash is going to begin … if ever.  But until then, these people are going to push the West until finally the West pushes back.  For example, a petition is being circulated and the following letter was sent to the City Council of Munich, Germany:

Dear City council of Munich,

I am writing this letter to bring to your attention something that I and many Muslims believe is unfair and requires attention.

I would like to inform you that the Oktoberfest is an Intolerant and Anti-Islamic event. We tried to ignore the event, but there too many Un-Islamic acts done at the Oktoberfest. Such as alcohol consumption, public nudity etc.

We understand that the Oktoberfest is a yearly German tradition, but we, Muslims, can not tolerate this Un-Islamic event, because it offends us and all Muslims on the earth.

We are requesting the immediate cancellation of the upcoming Oktoberfest event.

We also believe that the Oktoberfest might also offend all the Muslim refugees coming from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan. The cancellation of the Oktoberfest event will help refugees not to forget their Islamic history. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Morad Almuradi

Now, obviously, a tradition that has been going strong since 1810 isn’t likely to be cancelled anytime soon.  What’s interesting about this letter is its effrontery.  And note too that it is Saul Alinsky fueled.  Focus on the words used – “tolerate”, “offends”, “unfair”.  Using the West’s own rhetoric against it.  Of course, it seems obvious after you read the letter the irony must be “Un-Islamic” too.

But in the West, most folks would say, “hey, if you don’t like it, don’t attend, don’t drink and don’t get nude”.  That’s apparently the Western notion of “tolerance”.  But apparently the Muslim notion of tolerance is vastly different. They want the whole affair canceled because it is “Un-Islamic”.  And whatever they determine to be “Un-Islamic” can’t coexist with them, it must be banned.

Syrian refugees are flooding Germany as we speak.  Already Islam is not only large but real in Germany.  At some point, when enough Muslims are of voting age, it will use Germany’s democratic institutions to elect its own to the government.

Given their apparent intolerance, it won’t be pretty if they do.

And, ironically, I think we’ve seen this movie in Germany before.

  • “They want the whole affair canceled because it is “Un-Islamic”. And whatever they determine to be “Un-Islamic” can’t coexist with them, it must be banned.”

Sounds just like liberal tolerance to me. And here I thought that the only thing they had in common with Islamists has hate.

  • I wrote somewhere about a week ago “I am going to miss German beer”. I thought I was joking.

  • No you really haven’t seen this one before. One group were for the most part “innocents”, these are hate filled, intolerant, insufferable invaders who will deserve anything that happens to them.

    • The response will also be equally different. A plaguing symptom of Western leadership for the past 100 years, making the inappropriate response to the situation at hand.

      • The response will also be equally different.

—- you got that right. You see pushback starting to form pretty well – not just the fencing off against refugees but the fact that nationalist parties are growing, fueled by this sort of thing.

The time is coming- perhaps sooner than I once thought, since Merkel is apparently intent on committing cultural suicide- against the national will-where Mr. Almuradi makes this request and his response is a curb stomping.

  • Good luck nerfing up all the public events for Oktoberfest.

The ‘Oktoberfest Massacre’ will be a thing.

  • Germans are nice quite people nowadays, that will all change in a heartbeat when you start messing with their beer.

  • They want the whole affair canceled because it is “Un-Islamic”

    Yeah, SKEEEEErrrrrrrooooow THAT!

    Ja, ja, ja, ja…

We DO Oktoberfest in Texas, too…!!!

    • So…it’s the religion of peace, but not the religion of tolerance.
Co-exist? Without BEER? I think not.
Proving again that we are NOT all just going to get along because THEY are not going to let us.

  • Back in the 30s the Nazis and Commies were bedfellows of convenience. That ended only when Hitler knifed Stalin with Barbarossa. Sometime soon the Islamists will knife the leftists and the whole postmodern farce will crumble into dust. The main problem now is a bunch of hipsters and aging hippies do not really make much of an overwhelming Red Army.

    • Difference is when the knife work is done on this one, the Islamists will be all that are left holding knives and instead of 4 years of knock down drag out fighting it will be 4 years of leftists squealing their last out in this life before they go off to whine to their assorted versions of deities in the next (dead silence for the atheists).

    • I look very forward to the coming Islam/gay conflict that’s gonna tear the left apart.

We all know they’ll throw the gays under the bus when that hsppens

      • ISIS prefers throwing them off tall buildings. But they might like the bus idea, too.

        • They’ve done setting fire to them in a couple different ways, and blowing them up in buildings they’re demolishing.
And numerous other old ways of killing them, but you’re right, I don’t think they’ve done buses.

But maybe they don’t have any buses because they’ve used them all as manually guided explosive delivery vehicles.

  • Seems like it could be a Poe.

      • Yeah, you’re right, they’d have never just written a note and asked people to stop doing something that offends their religion.

Because killing them is so much more effective.

      • Snopes declares this false and yet their writeup does nothing to actually prove it’s false.

        From the Snopes writeup:
“The intentions of the author were also unclear, but even if the petition were written in earnest, it would represent one person’s opinion and not that of all Muslim refugees.”

Snopes has no way of knowing that it doesn’t represent a portion, majority or all of the opinions of the Muslim refugees. Based on what we’ve all seen, I would say it’s right in line with what many Muslims (radical or otherwise) would want.

“Additionally, the viewpoint expressed by the petition appears to be a minority opinion, as the petition has only managed to muster a few hundred signatures” It’s irrelevant how many signatures were mustered. There is no way for Snopes to know whether this represents a minority opinion or not.

“Those comments lead us to believe that this petition may was created by an Internet troll in order to foment outrage. The fact that this petition was posted on 11 September, a day on which items critical of Islam tend to reach fever pitch, supports this hypothesis.”
Or it could be that it was posted by a Muslim who wanted to foment outrage on Sept 11 because they know how important that date is to the US specifically and the West in general.

I don’t put any stock into Snopes’ claims on this issue.

        • Yeah, I don’t either. Sometimes its best just to say “I don’t know”.

          • That is why there’s a saying “Don’t feed the trolls!”

To my ear, the tone of the letter was a bit “off”, perhaps insufficiently reverential about Islam as well as being couched in language that felt like it came from a critic of the view it purports to portray rather than an actual practitioner.

I just think it’s pointless to amplify outrage over fake provocations.

          • So by the same token do you believe the Trump audience member who brought up Muslims & Obama’s birth was a plant?

Because he could be a plant we should assume he was an ignore the whole situation, correct?

    • This time.

  • I think the Munich Beer Hall Putsch of 2023 will be a lot different than it’s predecessor a century before. But in other ways, it will be eerily similar.

Maybe this guy can write ‘Allah’s Kampf’ while in prison afterward. Should make the 2040’s very interesting.
