Stray Voltage

Another thing I decided during my holiday hiatus was to make “Stray Voltage” a regular Friday feature. Why? Well, it covers a number of subjects/issues and gives everybody a lot to talk about over the weekend.

Question: Why is it the SJWs insist there is a “rape culture” on campus, but are mostly silent about the real rape culture that is rearing its ugly head in Europe among Muslim “refugees”?

Mr. Obama at his recent townhall meeting:

Obama didn’t hold back when asked by CNN moderator Anderson Cooper about the notion that the federal government — and Obama in particular — wants to seize all firearms as a precursor to imposing martial law. He blamed that notion on the NRA and like-minded groups that convince its members that “somebody’s going to come grab your guns.”

I have only one thing to say to that Mr. Obama: “If you like your insurance, you can keep your insurance.”

Well here’s a surprise.  Another late night release, and more evidence that Hillary Clinton should be prosecuted:

The latest batch of emails released from Hillary Clinton’s personal account from her tenure as secretary of state includes 66 messages deemed classified at some level, the State Department said early Friday.

In one email, Clinton even seemed to coach a top adviser on how to send secure information outside secure channels.

All but one of the 66 messages have been labeled “confidential”, the lowest level of classification. The remaining email has been labeled as “secret.” The total number of classified emails found on Clinton’s personal server has risen to 1,340 with the latest release. Seven of those emails have been labeled “secret.”

Does the name Petraeus mean anything to you?  And in comparison his security breaches were minor.  Which makes you wonder what it is going to take to finally see Clinton prosecuted.  I also wonder if the Obama administration may be interested in keeping his executive actions in place after he leaves … enough so they’re willing to make a deal with the Democratic front runner?  I’m sure everyone would be shocked, shocked I tell you, if that was the case.

And while the president is crying and wailing about you folks owning too many guns, the beat goes on:

Two Palestinian men who were born in Iraq and came to the United States as refugees have been arrested in connection with terrorism investigations, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

Imagine that.  Both men of fighting age, both refugees, both engaged in terroristic activities, but I’m the xenophobe (or racist or, well, pick your favorite pejorative)  if I say don’t import trouble in the form of refugee men from Islamic countries that support and foment terrorism?

Finally, Mr. Obama seems to think that if he repeats the same nonsense over and over again, it somehow becomes true.  To wit:

“But we are the only advanced country on Earth that sees this kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency. It doesn’t happen in other advanced countries. It’s not even close. And as I’ve said before, somehow we’ve become numb to it and we start thinking that this is normal.” –President Obama, announcing his new executive orders on guns, January 7, 2016

This claim is simply not true.

This claim is simply not true.  Between January 2009 and December 2015, there are 11 European countries with a higher frequency of these mass public shootings than the US, and 10 European countries with a higher rate of deaths from these attacks.

But hey, this is for the low information citizen who only reads headlines and listens to sound bites (read the whole thing).  What’s that old saying?  A lie can travel around the world before the truth gets its shoes on?  Something like that.  That is why propaganda is so powerful.  And this, my friends, is nothing but propaganda … dutifully retransmitted by an willfully incurious media.

Have a great weekend.

  • Concerning Obama on guns, Hillary on her email, and Obama on shootings – if members of the media like the lie, or approve of the person saying it, they don’t have any problem with it. They really don’t.

I expected everything to come apart for Hillary over her email months ago, because it’s painfully obvious that she violated the laws about confidential material, and then lied about it, over and over again. But at this point I’m too cynical to believe that the NYT/Post/NBC/CBS/CNN axis will *ever* make that an important story. This morning’s email was beyond a smoking gun – it was practically a signed confession. But I’m not seeing anything but cursory coverage of it. They’re basically part of a tacit conspiracy of silence with Hillary and the Justice Department.

They would much rather get irate about Augusta Country Club and other equally meaningless stories, as long as they provide a “gotcha” on the right. No wonder Trump can get away with saying whatever the hell he wants, no matter how boorish. For a very large chunk of the populace, the media no longer have the reputation and credibility to call anyone out on anything.

    • They’re not going to give it any traction – their viewing audience and buying public has confirmed that the whole Clinto e-mail scandal thing is just a myth created and perpetuated by Republican operatives and the ‘vast right wing conspiracy’.

Yes, we’ve really come that far.

On a brighter note, or perhaps the storm clouds on the horizon – Greg Abbott just called for a Constitutional Convention of the States.
Let’s see how they react to the 2nd most populous state in the US calling for a convention.

Should be an new group of countries – NorEast America, the United States, LeftCoastAmerica (which will quickly turn into Central America North), and the People’s Republic of IlliQuebec maybe.

    • I have SOME hope that an AG somewhere will have the sand to force the issue on Hellery’s various and SUNDRY violations of law and national security.

That would not seem as far-fetched as some cynics might think, and IF it happens, it’s going to blow things open, IMNHO.

      • FBI is still doing its investigation. It seems that the FBI and intelligence community are upset, so this might go somewhere. Sure, the AG won’t run with it but FBI can raise a stink that might cost Dems the election.

  • Why is it the SJWs insist there is a “rape culture” on campus, but are mostly silent about the real rape culture that is rearing its ugly head in Europe among Muslim “refugees”?

You know why, because they have nothing in their game plan to triangulate this mess. A German female mayor actually blames the women for what is happening, there is just no way a SJW can ever fit this reality around their indoctrinated worldview. They are going to stay dead quiet until a significant backlash occurs somewhere in Germany or elsewhere involving people that can be painted as neo-Nazis. With any luck for them, it will be a bunch of neo-Nazis who kick it off. Then they can go back to business as usual calling everyone racist and forgetting about those pesky women who just won’t stay chaste, covered up and indoors. A SJW never actually wants to go out and fix something, they just want to be able to hashtag the world their pure intentions and smirk at the neanderthals.

    • Well … the SJW’s WAANNNT and NEEED the Narrative of a “campus rape culture” which (in their Lefty fantasies) consists of Evil, Rich, Straight White frat boys. (Of course, the E.R.S.W. frat boys are mostly highly-acculturated to Western norms, meaning they DON’T rape, which means the crazy Marxist chicks who want to redefine the world and human nature are stuck with their fevered violent fantasies and not much else.)

As far as REAL rapes by gangs of swarthy Third-World men — they simply DO NOT CARE. Their point isn’t to “fix rape”, it’s to “fix blame” — on White men. *Only* on White men.

      • hey dude, those women are just collateral damage in a good cause. – filling Europe with military age men of Islamic Middle Eastern mentality.

  • Hey, but you have to love background checks to own a gun and virtually no checks to be a refugee or immigrant, Islamic terrorist or otherwise.
You have to love a guy who’ll cry nationally on cue for one group and send official White House representatives to funerals for other groups and won’t even acknowledge the death of a woman killed by a 5 time illegal alien running loose with a weapon stolen from a federal employee in a sanctuary city.
You have to love a guy who’ll worry about fictitious guns bought without checks across the internet who’ll run guns to Mexico for drug lords with the help of his ATF and Justice Department so he can have an excuse to “do something” about gun violence.

    • None of his gun control plans would save anyone. He’s not attempting to fix real problems, however, just assert more control over law abiding Americans. This is true of EVERYTHING he has done.

  • But the biggest problem may be in a just-released email that has gotten little attention here, but plenty on the other side of the world. An email to Hillary from a close Clinton confidant late on June 8, 2011 about Sudan turns out to have explosive material in it. This message includes a detailed intelligence report from Sid Blumenthal, Hillary’s close friend, confidant, and factotum, who regularly supplied her with information from his private intelligence service. His usual source was Tyler Drumheller, a former CIA senior official and veteran spy-gadfly, who conveniently died just before EmailGate became a serious problem for Hillary’s campaign.

I had forgotten how people conveniently die around the Clintons

  • Importing third world Mulsims is part of the plan. The left has already made most of the gains it can by pushing feminism. The next step is large numbers of third worl voters. So women get thrown to the wolves.

  • Who is in charge of releasing the Clinton emails, TeamClinton or TeamObama? This slow drip of releases has to be about the worst thing for Clinton’s campaign in that it keeps the issue from going away.. If it is TeamObama orchestrating this then are they trying to sabotage her campaign or did it just turn out this way in a bureaucratic SNAFU.

I doubt Clinton will ever be prosecuted for any of this as she is too big to jail.

My guess is that a slow release was designed to make the issue get stale and to let the media to declare this as boring old news and move on.

  • How about the rape culture in Baltimore’s public housing?

Public housing tenants in Baltimore who alleged they were sexually harassed and abused by maintenance workers will share up to $8 million in a settlement of a class-action lawsuit that exposed poor living conditions in the subsidized complexes.

The lawsuit, filed in September, said maintenance workers at several complexes demanded sexual favors in exchange for making repairs. When the women did not comply, they said, the repairs were not made — exposing them to unsafe conditions such as mold, lack of heat and risk of electrocution.[/quote]
