This should anger and terrify any freedom loving person

This is just something that shouldn’t be “discussed” at all, much less “discussed” by law enforcement:

During Lynch’s testimony at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said that he believes there are similarities between the tobacco industry denying scientific studies showing the dangers of using tobacco and companies within the fossil fuel industry denying studies allegedly showing the threat of carbon emissions…

Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.)… concluded his comments by posing a question to the country’s top law enforcement officer.

“My question to you is, other than civil forfeitures and matters attendant to a criminal case, are there other circumstances in which a civil matter under the authority of the Department of Justice has been referred to the FBI?” he asked.

“This matter has been discussed. We have received information about it and have referred it to the FBI to consider whether or not it meets the criteria for which we could take action on,” Lynch answered. “I’m not aware of a civil referral at this time.”

Seriously?  As flawed as the data is and as broken as the models have been shown to be, there is certainly nothing “settled” about anything to do with “global warming” or carbon.  Nothing.

But that’s not the point is it?  This is about shutting up dissent.  And why would anyone want to shut up dissent?  Well, frankly, for the usual reasons – power and control.  You have a group of true believers (or at least those who claim to be) who have positions of power and want to use it to control how you live your life.  They’ve been looking for a way for quite some time and have finally, thanks to Al Gore and the boys, found what they believe is a fail-safe way to kite more money from taxpayers and “evil corporations” and they can’t stand to have a group out there shooting their “science” in the keister with facts.  The “electricity rates are going to jump under my plan” ideologues aren’t going to pass up this chance to cripple the fossil fuel industry and they have just the pseudo-science with which to do it if they can shut these dissenters up.

Thus a US Congressman questioning the nation’s chief law enforcement officer about whether or not that officer is discussing means and  methods of doing just that.  If every anyone deserved to be impeached and thrown out of Congress, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse is the candidate of choice in my estimation.  And to be Number 1, you have to be pretty damn bad (we could instead settle for a little tar and feathers and running him out of town, I suppose).  As I see it, any call to quash dissent by a government official acting in his official capacity is grounds for removal – unless you’re in Communist China, perhaps.

Power and control.  That’s what this is all and it is why there is anger and frustration on both sides of the political spectrum.  People have had it with both sides.

  • You beat me to this one – and here’s the kicker, not only are we discussing possible prosecution for climate deniers…

We’re talking about not prosecuting the parties chiefly responsible in one of the most blatant examples of violation of numerous statutes dealing with the protection of classified information.

The President might as well have Justice issue a memo officially declaring we are changing the name of the country from the United States of America to La Republica Chiquita.

  • ” That’s what this is all and it is why there is anger and frustration on both sides of the political spectrum. People have had it with both sides.”

Hence the popularity of Trump and Sanders.

There’s a lot riding on this, and not just in terms of a presidential race. If Hillary skates, the rule of law in this nation is gone for good. It’s already on life-support with the government weaponizing the IRS, EPA, as well as Benghazi, Fast and Furious, selective enforcement of existing laws and Executive Orders. Recently heard the term ‘Italianification’ in regard to national attitude: Everyone will get away with whatever they can, leading an underground economy. No respect for the rule of law, and no respect for the political class – the second half of which isn’t such a bad thing.

Sometimes have to wonder how we’ve fallen so far as a nation. There is a very real possibility the choices this fall will be between a felon (it really can’t be spun anymore) or avowed Socialist, and a self-promoting carnival barker. But then again, we elected this racial healer / community organizer – twice. Sheesh.

  • Well, you know, as Kemal Ataturk observed – “Sovereignty is not given, it is taken”.

  • TPTB want to criminalize “climate deniers” … and then there’s poor Mark Steyn, wondering why his countersuit against Michael Mann is is still stalled, going NOWHERE after 4 years of languishing in the DC Superior Court.

Since the USSA State Religion is AGW/ Climate Change/ Warmism, but (to date) “heresy” is not officially a crime, the only thing the Believers can do is delay, delay, delay.

Whoever said “The process is the punishment” was certainly succinct.

  • This is small potatos, didn’t you hear the REAL threat to the freedom of the Republic? Some drunk punched a protester at a Trump rally. Nothing else compares!

    • I can Trump that….bwaahahahahahah – I’ve had that one loaded for weeks now and can finally use it! Victory!!!!!
Yep, someone else got bruises at a totally different Trump gathering – though based on the photos of the bruising it wasn’t a very good bruise as bruises go. By good, I mean impressive of course.
And there weren’t photos of the incident for some reason, unlike the other really good incidents.
So, Trump is a racist, and other bad things, but at the very least a racist.

Still, it’s clear that Trump is responsible for anyone who goes to one of his gatherings, no matter what kind of whackadoo they are (or if they’re his campaign manager kind of guy, wait, that one sounds like he might have some level of control…)

Well anyway, David Cameron is totally responsible for the hell hole that is present day Libya, and NOT Barack Obama.
Barack isn’t responsible at all – he gave some speeches, and led from behind, and obviously people didn’t listen to the speeches and didn’t make the speeches reality.
The more I think about this, the more I want Donald Trump to be responsible for Libya.
Didn’t he talk about Libya or something? Did he ever say the name Libya?
Perhaps he talked about Africa? that would be close enough.
Why isn’t the President properly placing the blame for it all on Trump where it belongs?

  • Lynch indicated that they were considering actions against corporations, not individuals, but since corporations are now people (or at least I keep hearing Progressives say so thanks to Citizens United), there is no difference.

    • Oh, I think people would be on the list.
The “corporate” entity will continue to be composed of people until SkyNet finally comes on line.
It’s people making the decisions to deny climate change, not some corporeal ‘corporate’ being, and we’ll drag them before our tribunals and make them answer for their heresies!

Faceless nameless unresponsive unaccountable entities are mostly found working in government, and usually have nebulous unhelpful unaccountable titles like “supervisor”, especially since 2009.

  • Laura Engram was on Special Report two nights ago, she put this matter into context very succinctly.
“This isn’t about pollution or the climate that has been changing for 4-1/2 billions years, these people have no interest about the people or the environment, this is about income redistribution on a global scale”
    Money.
    Power.
    Societal Control.

    • This is about a global slush fund for consultants, NGOs, dictators and criminals (but I repeat myself) that is to be funded with $500 billions a year (with at $100 billion coming from the USA).

      • And power, literally, as in electric.

We talked about how the grid going down would screw the country, imagine them creating a scarcity using the grid to control your behaviors.

I do so look forward to my 30 square feet in the mud hut.

  • The simularities between the Tobacco industry and Oil companies are striking.
In both cases, the government was making more tax revenue from these enterprises than the industry itself was making in revenue.

  • Heh – Berkshire Hathaway isn’t interested in the Climate Change worry party

Well, I guess their names better go on ‘the list’.
