Yep. Things get bad when your POTUS has no love of his country. And actively works at undermining it.

    • Neo_ says:

@Ragspierre But when you believe in the “Divine Rights from the UN”, there is no need to go any other path.

      • looker says:

@Neo_ Well, until the UN declares divine right doesn’t apply, as it was so fond of doing during the Bush administration.

War Powers undermined some of it. This strikes me as the logical destination, given the leader we’re talking about, of where the War Powers act could take you. Isn’t it odd how we seem to get into these things under Democrats more often than Republicans? Another narrative the Democrats would prefer to avoid. When you’re attacked or have to move fast to protect the national interest, I understand the CinC has to make decisions that require quick action. Now, explain to me why 1 year into Assad slaughtering Syrians we have to have quick action. Then explain to me what interests we’re defending ourselves from/against/for, in Syria.

As to the idea that International authority has any say over the deployment or use of American forces – BULLSPIT. Someone needs to go read some history to see how hard we worked NOT to be under European/Foreign command any time we’ve engaged enemies across the world. If their governments can commit us, we might as well be a vassal state like Rhenish Hesse.

That Baracka thinks he has that kind of authority backed by various foreign powers, should scare the shit out of everyone, but…it won’t. We’re probably far more worried about Republicans trying to “murder women by preventing them from having contraceptives”.

The War Powers Act still gets its basic authorization form the US Constitution but the current Obama regime has already shown its disdain for that antiquated rag. Obama has begun to elevate the power of the Office of the Presidency to that of a King. He has already stated more than once his willingness to bypass Congress and rule by edict, executive order. So to go to this extension is natural from his perspective. Re-elect the man and then see just how far his kingly powers will extend!

  • Ragspierre says:

Lawyers who thought our enemies were worth volunteering to help are now the lawyers who make counterterrorism policy for the country — something so radical as to have been inconceivable just a short time ago, but something that is happening in the Obama administration. And by working it from the inside, these lawyers are incrementally but noticeably moving the mainstream in a radical direction. If the president is reelected, he and they will do much more. Like Obama, they haven’t moderated; they are changing the society’s perception of what “moderate” is — and not in a healthy direction.==Andy McCarthy Obama is a radical Collectivist, and was.

What is most stunning (and disheartening) is intelligent people knew What Øbama was going in, yet sufficient numbers voted for him regardless. Øbama is not the root problem, it is the fools who vote for the likes of Øbama.

    • looker says:

@Constitution First He still has an approval rating that bounces at over a third of the voting population. How?

  • looker says:

Funny, the usuals aren’t in here defending this, or talking about it, or being worried about it…..did Rush say something else about sex?
