Free Markets, Free People

BlogTalk Radio, Tonight 8pm EST

Call in number: (718) 664-9614

Yes, friends, it is a call-in show, so do call in.

Subject(s): The Brits aren’t happy with Obama, Geithner is defending taxes and threatening to go after tax cheats, the administration continues to beat up on certain industries and the stock market heads toward record lows. In the meantime, people are speculating as to whether Obama is up to the job as the Democrats target the “good crisis” to fulfill their wishlist. Don’t hit that “reset” button. Fun stuff tonight on “Observations”.

  • Legalizing and taxing cannabis would be a good way to stimulate the economy.  Why are so-called free market Republicans against doing so?  (Thank god Holder intends to cease the mindless persecution of the use of medicinal cannbias by the states. Why did this site continue to support a party that held to the opposite position?)  Think of the billions that could be added to the national treasury, and that would be taken away from criminal gangs.  Why is this site not actively advoicating legalization of cannabis?

Opening up trade with Cuba and allowing the free flow of goods and people between Cuba and the US is also good for the American econonmy.  Why are so-called free market Republicans against doing so?  (And if the claim is due to human rights abuses, witness China.)  And why does this site continue to support a party that holds the opposite position?  After all, free trade is the best weapon against human rights abuses, right?

    • Some people actually read this website and are fully cognizant of what we do and do not support.  Others presume a great deal and offer nothing to back it up because it’s easier to mindlessly throw empty accusations than make any arguments, thus allowing the accuser to feel superior.

Uhm, I did.  A couple months back.

Oh.   And Richard Shelby and McCain, apparently, have sent the word out that some big banks need to fail.  Jesus, these people are idiots/

Actually, I’d agree that some big banks need to fail, as long as we can do it without a run on all the banks.  We’d be better off if the bad banks’ assets were sold off to more responsible institutions, not least because at least then we’d discover the prices of all those rotten assets.  We’d also be getting rid of the massive moral hazard that’s going to cause more risky behavior and bailouts in the future.

    • I think that legal marajuana and free trade with Cuba are good things, they just don’t compensate for all the bad things Obama is doing.
