Jobs, jobs, jobs …

We’ve been told for months now about all the jobs that have been created by the laser-like focus on jobs that Barack and Sheriff Joe have given us.

Of course the inconvenient statistic that keeps dogging their claim is the unemployment rate.

As for the jobs themselves? Well, per the New York Times, not so hot:

While a majority of jobs lost during the downturn were in the middle range of wages, a majority of those added during the recovery have been low paying, according to a new report from the National Employment Law Project.

[…]

Lower-wage occupations, with median hourly wages of $7.69 to $13.83, accounted for 21 percent of job losses during the retraction. Since employment started expanding, they have accounted for 58 percent of all job growth.

Another of those indicators. Again something that effects voters personally. Not only are those in the 8.2% unlikely to be particularly happy about the current economic situation and those in charge, but those that are employed but earning far less than they were are unlikely to be very happy either.

  • Ragspierre says:

I think increasingly there are two general sets of Americans.
    1. Those who know intuitively or rationally “This ain’t right”; and
    2. Those who think this is exactly the way the nation should be going.
I think the first is a lot bigger group, and will carry the day, and that it will be almost like having a light-switch turned on when that day comes.

so long as group #2 confines themselves to whining or forming the Orgy Party to take back the government using the normal methods during the next midterm.

“We are here to talk about a growing concern we all share,” Chuck Norris explains. “If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack. We’re at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don’t change the course in which our country is headed.”

  • Michael Zimbleman says:

I seem to recall discussion from a couple of years back that a lot of those jobs created by this administration were temporary census taker jobs. And even that those were inflated by people working a week or two, quitting, then getting another census job a few weeks later. Has anyone ever done an evaluation of how many of the four plus million jobs that the administration claims to have created are jobs that continue to exist to this day?

  • The shark says:

No no no no no. Under a republican these are “”McJobs” and just awful. Under a democrat they’re the pony engine of wealth creation that will spur growth.

It’s gonna take much more than an election to rid us of the root causes of our issues.
