Obama in 10 quotes
POLITICO has a story out entitled “10 quotes that haunt Obama“. Haunt? I’d say they define him.
The 10 quotes, minus the POLITICO take on each, are:
“Washington is broken. My whole campaign has been premised from the start on the idea that we have to fundamentally change how Washington works.”
“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.”
“If I don’t have this done in three years, then there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”
“Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not, and a way that Bill Clinton did not.”
“Guantanamo will be closed no later than one year from now.”
“I think that health care, over time, is going to become more popular.”
“I favor legalizing same-sex marriages, and would fight efforts to prohibit such marriages.”
“It’s here that companies like Solyndra are leading the way toward a brighter and more prosperous future.”
“I fought with you in the Senate for comprehensive immigration reform. And I will make it a top priority in my first year as President.”
“What we have done is kicked this can down the road. We are now at the end of the road and are not in a position to kick it any further. We have to signal seriousness in this by making sure some of the hard decisions are made under my watch, not someone else’s.”
What they define is arrogance, cluelessness, flip flopping and failure. The gay marriage quote was one that ran in a gay newspaper in Chicago as Obama was running for the State Senate. When confronted with that later, he denied those were his words. Then, when it was politically important to embrace gay marriage, he “evolved” (what would be described as a ‘flip-flop’ for any other politician).
There are a ton of other quotes that could be on this list (“the private sector is doing fine” – arrogance and cluelessness). But these will do. They indicate a man who, for whatever reason, thinks an awful lot of himself while not demonstrating anything of substance to substantiate that feeling. That is why Clint Eastwood talked to an empty chair. He could just as easily had a naked Obama mannequin up there with an emperor’s crown.
Washington is broken worse since he took office, Solyndra represents crony capitalism at its worst, he’s kicked the can around the cul-de-sac while passing an extraordinarily expensive medical insurance law against the wishes of the American people. Gitmo is still open, he’s done nothing on immigration but blatantly ignored the law, his arrogance still knows no bounds, but he’s damn sure no Ronald Reagan. Or Bill Clinton, for that matter.
So I say we hold him to quote 3. He has no interest in the economy, unemployment or jobs. He’s yet to meet with his jobs council, doesn’t attend his daily intel briefs (well he does now, since being called out on it) and would much rather campaign than meet with world leaders at the UN. He’s a guy who loves the perqs of the job, but seemingly isn’t real interested in the job itself.
And somehow we’re supposed to believe giving him 4 more years would improve on this record.
Daft.

Lessee…
Our moose-squeeze “better” calls us (despite his best efforts to glaze over his contempt via editing) “neanderthal ideologues”, which sort of suggests we are not bright AND are blinded by partisanship.
But a survey out today shows that physicians support Romney nearly two to one now.
And another report says that 3 of 4 economists support Romney.
Huh…
3 out of 4 – is that a….a….consensus? He’s big on consensus judgement isn’t he. That was then?
Perhaps. The question is, would Bill Clinton call them “serious economists”? ‘Cause those jocular economists are a whole different breed!
The most disturbing thing about Obama is his claim to have the power to secretly decide to kill US citizens and then follow through on it.
I was kind of enjoying his current authority to have every commenter here on QandO rounded up, declared to be suspected terrorists, and sent to a nice Federally subsidized institution (perhaps for voluntary questioning) and held indefinitely without being charged.

And so you would prefer Mitt Romney—who is notorious for his flip-flops and lies? (For documentation, search “romney’s lies” and “romney’s flip-flops”)
Here’s the fun part, I don’t need to search for Obama’s lies – let’s start with a recent one – The attack on the embassy in Benghazi was NOT a planned terrorist attack, it was a spontaneous protest caused by a Youtube film. Nothing like being lied to on a daily basis by the President and his administration is there.
How about another – born in Indonesia. A third? for 20 years I didn’t know Jeremiah Wright’s church was black liberation church. A fourth, Bill Ayers was just a guy who lived in my neighborhood.
Those are the simple ones, the ones that aren’t even subjective.
Yeah, but a lot of Romney “lies” are actually lies by liars like yourself.
So that sort of doesn’t work, does it?
Mens rea? I mean, is Tad really sharp enough to KNOW he’s lying?
Would I prefer Romney? No.
But it is amusing to see Obama’s apologists point at everyone else.
You’d NOT prefer to see Holder gone? !!!! Holy shit.
Sure, I’d like to see Holder gone. Being against one thing is not support for another.
But you said you had no preference. Your word. I just read what you wrote.
A preference does not connote enthusiasm.
Well, I very much prefer Romney over Obama. Why?
1) Competence. Actual executive experince and buisness experience.
2) Math. Someone who will actually pass a budget. Maybe even reduce the deficit.
3) Someone who actually likes, maybe even loves the United States.
4) Someone who has a non-Marxist belief system, who doesn’t believe in wealth redistribution.
There is much, much more but those are the most important ones.
yeah Don all of that plus he doesn’t actually hate his own country.
I’ve change my mind numerous times (flip flops) throughout my life, so I have respect for someone who realizes he is mistaken from time to time.
But to a sh*#bag leftist like you, what the f*#k would you know about lying? To the crackhead-left, there is no truth, only opinion (this is, clinically, indistinguishable from schizophrenia).
Come back when your Lithium prescription has been refilled.
Hell, Obama’s biographer found out that “Dreams of my Father” was at least 40% lies. What kind of lying lier lies in his lying autobiography? When he hasn’t even done anything yet?
But then, it was probably written by Ayers anyway, the lie was that it was an autobiography.
At least with a Flip-flopper we have a 50/50 chance of getting what we want, while a full time liar is completely unpredictable
Hey hey, I have another one – The Fort Hood Shootings weren’t Islamic terrorism, they were a case of work place violence.
So, what have you got Tad?
Wow. Just wow.
“I think that health care, over time, is going to become more popular.”
Along the same lines one can go with the following:
Turns out it was a massive tax increase aimed directly at the middle class.
Has anyone quantified exactly how much money these “uninsured” people were in fact costing us? Or is this like the 10000 women/yr dying of illegal abortions that Bernard Nathanson made up?
I say SCFoaMF sums it up just nicely.

“I fought with you in the Senate for comprehensive immigration reform. And I will make it a top priority in my first year as President.”
… but he has nothing to show for his trouble.
Romney’s lies seem to be mostly the lies of lying leftists lying about Romney.
Obama’s lies are all over the place. For example, that 2008 debate with McCain and the “hardest decision you have made” question:
McCain’s answer was his decision to stay a POW in North Vietnam instead of taking the offer to leave. I tend to buy mcCain’s answer.
Obama’s answer was deciding to not support the Iraq War. A decision without consequence. Since he was not in the Senate at the time, and had no more say in the war then I did. How can a decision without consequence be a hard decision? Does anyone think that was really a hard decision for Obama? That was clearly a lie, and a lie aimed at the low information voters who make up Obama’s base.
Another was Obama’s answer to the “do you believe in American exceptionalism” question. Another lie, since Obama no doubt understands what American exceptionalism is and realizes there is no comparable “Greek exceptionalism”. Obama essentially redefined “American exceptionalism” and then said he believed in it, a lawyer lie in the mold of “the meaning of IS”.
One of the only…if not THE only…promise Obama seems to be keeping is that “electrical rates with necessarily skyrocket”.
Hu……zah.
He mumbled something about gasoline costs rising to equivalent European levels per gallon (per liter, trust me, he didn’t think that far on the subject).
