Observations: The QandO Podcast for 05 May 13

This week, the podcast is 1:07, but, really, the last fifteen minutes or so is such an arcane discussion of GDP calculations that it’s probably unlistenable. But, first we discuss Benghazi and the recent poll that shows 29% of Americans think they may need to grab a rifle and head off into the hills to raise an in the next few years.

  • Well, GDP calculations are more better than font discussions. :-)

  • I liked the disagreement. But I have to question that the change to GDP will have no change in the trend. Dale himself says that it will adjust for pensions and other things. That means a change, no?  Or will it be so small as not to matter?

    • They will change the base numbers, but generally they won’t change rates. Though if they do, it will change the trends downward, since some of those pensions are truly massive…

      • Again, if you change the base numbers, unless it is exactly a one for one change, then the rates will change.
I agree that the trend could be downwards, and if we had a period of very low positive growth could it be enough to tip it negative, for example?

  • And now for someone gone around the bend.

No more due process in the clear-cut case of insidious terrorism. When the facts are so clearly before all Americans, for the whole world to see, why bother with this country’s odious and cumbersome system of justice? Send the guilty monsters directly to Guantanamo Bay for all eternity and let them rot in their own mental squalor.
No, no, no. Not the wannabe sick kid who blew up the Boston marathon or the freak that’s mailing ricin-laced letters to the president. I’m talking about the real terrorist threat here in America: the National Rifle Association.

Keep in mind we have an administration that claims for itself the power to secretly declare a US citizen to be a terrorist and kill them.

  • Another personal observation, this time from the NY times and the looming train wreck for Obamacare.

Mr. Obama also will meet privately with groups with a stake in the outcome, aides say, to foster cooperation. For the first time, he has hired someone — Tara McGuinness, a seasoned Democratic operative — solely to lead a White House team on communications strategy. Organizing for Action, the grass-roots network formed from his 2012 campaign, will also join with other community and professional groups as well as celebrities and athletes to inform people about the law.

In order to save Obamacare, Obama is not consulting insurance, medical, or hospital experts, but political operatives.  If anything that screams that trouble is on the way for him and this blog knows full well how much of a narcissist he is.   Just how bad is this train wreck going to be?
