Yeah, well, you’re only as good as your material. The best communicator in the world won’t be able to sell what Obama’s policies offer..
Oh, he’ll be able to sell his policies and outcomes quite easily… to a certain segment of our population. You know: losers who expect SOMEBODY to take care of them from womb to tomb; thieves who like the idea of using Uncle Sugar to rob their fellow citizens on their behalf; and idiot do-gooders who think that every blessed thing the losers and thieves want is a”right” but never stop to think how we’re going to pay for it all. Selling TAO’s policies to these people is slightly easier than selling crack to a crackhead.
The rest of us, not so much.
Anyway, I’ve come to realize that, contrary to the hype, he’s NOT a “great communicator”. He’s merely a guy with a good voice who can read a teleprompter well. Take that away from him… Well, let’s just say that it’s like the Special Olympics.
I was thinking something along the same lines as Eric. Being an effective communicator would mean letting Americans know the real results of Obama’s proposed policies: awful healthcare, depressed business activity for the indefinite future, a nuclear Iran, angry allies, the continued rise of leftist nosy nancies like ACORN…
No, Obama’s problem isn’t really that he’s an ineffective communicator. So far his problem is that he’s an ineffective con-man. And I’m pretty happy about that.
He hasn’t been nearly inneffective enough
Here’s the thing, guys…. Perhaps 20 years ago, he might have been more effective. As it is, we’ve seen these tricks before, and rejected them.
Obama is providing more quotable stupidity that GWB. For example. The Guy should stick to using his teleprompter since that is where the brains really are.

As I have said before, he is not all that articulate, he just sounds white, which seems to have greatly impressed some people. A sterling example of the ‘soft bigotry of low expectations’ as someone once said.
Marshall McLuhan once wrote of the films of the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, roughly, that they allowed middle class moviegoers to believe that they were leading deep, emotionally profound lives.
Obama allows his supporters to believe they are committed to a profoundly new political order, where caring and fairness are, well, forcibly administered to all. That daily bread is the new compassion, and will everyone please show up on time with their ribbons in place.
Now, you might think that this new majoritarian order will have to face a counter-majoritarian backlash, but I would invite you to take a look at the way a counter-majoritarian backlash is being handled in Calfornia over the Prop 8 referendum.
