President Obama promised to make his administration the most open and transparent in history, and taking questions from the public kind of looks like that. But it also kind of looks like gimmicky, a canned publicity stunt, rather than true openness in government.
Real transparency would include fulfilling his campaign promise to post bills online for five days before signing them. The President has now signed ten bills into law and not subjected any of them to that five-day public review.
Ten bills. That’s zero for ten in the transparancy department.
Yup, we’re just in too much of a hurry to really be transparent, apparently. And the press is doing such a great job of keeping Mr. Transparancy’s feet to the fire, isn’t it?

They used to call this “cowboying” or the “Jack Bauer approach”, and plainly, some would call it tortureous.
Wait… are you saying that The One has been less than perfect? Say it ain’t so!

I hark back to my studies of Hitler. He didn’t allow the people to find out what he was doing until it was done. Todays leader of Germany stated we are following the same path they followed and all they got out of it was a little man with a mustache. Well they also got WWII and millions of dead people.
My husband made this observation – - Obama looks and acts like he is still on the campaign trail. But, considering he has never actually governed (spent his entire time in the senate running for Prez), he doesn’t know how to do anything else.
I, for one, am tired of him constantly talking but not really saying anything.
Give MiniTru a break: they have much more important questions to ask him, like how race is a factor in his presidency.

Plus, they are very busy digging into campaign contributions by bankrupt financial corporations to the politicians who were supposed to be overseeing and regulating them, as well as getting to the bottom of the AIG bonuses and fully informing the public about the Tax Cheat in Chief’s role in that mess.

Even if Obeyme did post the bills online for 5 days, what would be the result of that practice? Would a bill get changed or vetoed due to public input/outrage? Even if that were the case, groups could amass and put a concerted effort to deluge the system with comments one way or another.
It was nothing more than a pandering stunt to make people think they were going to have input. The real work is done in the Congress and that’s where we should be directing our outrage. Those jackwads should be unelected if they don’t respond to public outcry.
Even though Obeyme is just another jackwad.
Actually docjim, they had a short segment on the Today show this morning on the congress-critters who received campaign funds from AIG’s PAC. So, they’re slowly catching on.

When MiniTru gives the same kind of publicity to AIG’s campaign contributions as they did the “bonuses”, then I’ll really believe that they are “catching on”. Until then, it’s sort of like the retractions and corrections that newspapers occasionally make: a tiny paragraph buried in the classified ads.

This would have been a great question to ask him. Would he have answered? Or just been snippy with the reporter…? We’ll never know. Maybe we can get Mr. Hannen from the UK over here to ask him.
He is extremely transparent in that most of us can see right thru him!
Maybe he meant that all the bills he signs added up together would total five days of public review.
Well, they might not ‘adjust the bills’.
Instead, what they’d do is issue bills of attainder against people who they were trying to benefit in the bill, they will express the requisite amount of outrage until the issue falls below the public radar again.

when you have to take a telepromtor to a st paddys day party and then you still screw it up you are really a big boob. which is why he didnt go to the gridiron dinner because if his telepromtor couldt go he wasnt going because those newspaper reporters might ask him a question his speech writers didnt have an answer for those tricky paper people. he is really showing that he is just a front for the democrats especially when he signed his first executive order about guantonamo and he had ask greg craig how it was going to and greg craig said we are working on it.
