My latest Examiner column taking on the recently increased federal tobacco tax.
“After all, we all agree smoking isn’t good for you. Even smokers know that. And isn’t it the job of government to find ways to force you not to do what it deems to be bad for you?”
Being stupid is incredibly bad for you, and many times even worse for people around you. So why don’t we have a stupidity tax?
why don’t we have a stupidity tax?
We do. It’s called “the lottery”.
Why are you so upset, McQ? The right wing’s star on the Supreme Court - Justice Thomas – has lately been heard lecturing Americans that they should complain less about their rights and more about their obligations and responsibilties to the government. He spoke about a “proliferation of rights.”
“Rights,” in this context, means rights against the government. Thomas is mad about these rights. Q and O has remained silent on this omnious development. An unelected Supreme Court Justice on the right is upset about rights.
Instead, Q and O groans about democratically enacted taxes.
“Instead, Q and O groans about democratically enacted taxes.
How perfect. ”
I nominate this as the “Clueless Line of the Year”.
I’d also vote for this line:
An unelected Supreme Court Justice on the right is upset about rights.
Dude is clearly clueless about Thomas’ arguments.
Obviously your reading is as selective as what you choose to remember – we’ve spoken out about unelected judges imposing their will any number of times.
