This is getting surreal: Boxer says protestors “too well dressed”

Via Hotair, we see the Democrats’ poster child for intellectual firepower, Barbara Boxer, telling us these townhall protestors are fakes because they’re too well dressed.

The problem with this, of course, is that it doesn’t matter what the protestors do or how they act. Democratic propagandists will always tell us it’s wrong. If there were dressed like Code Pink wackos, then we’d hear how they are out of touch crazy people. If they’re quiet and just sit there in the townhalls, then the Democratic propagandists would claim it shows that most everyone is in favor of the healthcare bill(s). If they get up and make their displeasure known, then they’re disruptive extremists.

But Boxer is especially risible. I suppose coming from California, home of leftist protestors who sometimes wear no clothes at all, she really is suspicious when protestors dress like normal people. It must be some kind of plot! Activists just don’t dress like that!

  • Speaking of which, Barbara, those are some pretty nice looking threads you’ve got on yourself. I bet they cost a bundle. Care to share with us who is footing your clothier bill?

  • It may come as a shock to her, but people who are well-dressed (as if manner of dress is any disqualification for exercising one’s freedom of speech and assembly) are logically people with money who pay taxes. These are the people impacted heavily by Democratic boondoggles.

  • Barbara Boxer is the quintessential Democrat: dumber than a sack of hair, who earns the trust and love of her fellow libtard numbnuts as well as the liberal media, like the doofi on CNN and The Comedy Channel, MSDNC.

  • This was just her awkward attempt to push the Brooks Brothers Brigades talking point Gibbs spewed yesterday, apparently after reading Josh Marshall.

  • Lets see

    Medicare – Broke
    Medicaid – Broke
    Social Security – Broke
    Cash for Clunkers – Broke
    Stimulus plan – Not working

yet the govt thinks that it can handle health care.

Why not fix some of the problems out there prior to breaking more things?

  • Could be just me, but my experience is ‘well dressed’ people don’t scream and yell at you as an angry mob.

Not to say they can’t, just generally, they don’t.  Screamers and yellers are usually dressed like, oh, college students, or Code Pink.

  • Um, when in the video does she say anybody is “too well-dressed”? She simply says they are “well-dressed.” I’m not entirely sure what she means by that, but here’s my interpretation. Well-dressed, respectable people aren’t generally the type of people who scream and yell at protests. The kinds of people who scream and yell at protests are generally from fringe groups…and yes, California has it’s share of those. It seems to me she’s making a distinction between the organized, “well-dressed” people who are mobilizing against Obama and the unorganized fringe types who will probably protest anything and are easily dismissed because of their fringe status. But read into whatever you want, politics is greating for making mountains out of mole-hills.
By the way, Medicare (i.e. single payer) recipients are the most satisfied group of health care users in America, followed by people on employer plans (heavy government involvement in those), with people on the private health insurance market (i.e. least government involvement) reporting lowest levels of satisfaction. And while it’s true Medicare costs are growing at an alarming level, they’re still growing slower than health care costs in the private market. I interpret that data as an endorsement for a single-payer system for everybody (since it’s the cheapest of the three options and delivers the highest levels of user satisfaction). Of course, I’m sure the folks on here have a very different interpretation of that data as well… :-)

  • It seems like the only thing we are getting out of the White House information machine these days are ad-hominem attacks against the opposition.
We should be used to this by now from the Bush years, when instead of debating the glaring problems with some of his policies, they instead preferred to insult his accent and intelligence.  Democrats aren’t capable of intelligent debate on any complex issue.

  • Boxer says she can tell that they’re fakes, because they’re too well dressed.
This proves it for me .. the Code Pink, ACORN and MoveOn.org folks just have no fashion sense whatsoever.

  • The DNC released a Web video early in the morning accusing the GOP of inciting mob activity at town hall meetings. At the end of the video, the DNC instructs people to call the Republican National Committee to express outrage. Callers who dial the RNC’s main number to voice their concern about the DNC’s charges are told to press 1, which sends them to the DNC’s main switchboard.

    Clever trick.

  • Vote her out.

    That’s all she recognizes.

  • Boxer’s language is more than a careless comment: it illustrates how they see society, identify those to which they target, and those they patronize. The elites are in full-out warfare mode against the middle-class producers. They know it’s a shift to end-game strategy now, given that the debt-spending gig is nearly up. When they can’t produce table scraps for the 51% lower class they’ve been buying off for their power, the poor will seize them by the throats and rip them out. They must act now to both passify the under-producers and consolidate total power over the middle.
Obama’s aware that they have at most 2-3 years to shift to a soft-totalitarian state so that the coming debt bubble collapse won’t cause his minders to lose their power. Don’t think for a moment they recognize us for what we are — shopping at JC Pennys (Brooks Brothers is their derogatory code for what they think we middle classers aspire to wear but are symbols of the power elites – all projection), driving Hondas, eating out at Applebees, etc.
They need the power of death to pull this off. Control health care and the state has the yoke over our heads for good. If you think resistance and opposition that gets reported to a White House email account is bad, just imagine how it will be when that same White House program notes your opposition as subversive behavior and decides your major health care treatment is not worth the expense per your not being a “contributing person in society.” We know this isn’t Orwellian fiction anymore. Names of those who oppose the Leader and his party are already being taken and Acorn thugs knocking on your door are just months away.

  • We are just following orders from the Annointed One

In Elko, Obama tried to anticipate his critics and called on the crowd of about 1,500 to sharpen their elbows, too.
“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” he said.
“And if they tell you that, ‘Well, we’re not sure where he stands on guns.’ I want you to say, ‘He believes in the Second Amendment.’ If they tell you, ‘Well, he’s going to raise your taxes,’ you say, ‘No, he’s not, he’s going lower them.’ You are my ambassadors. You guys are the ones who can make the case.”

  • Now this is fun:   The ‘minority leader’ (according to Fox News anyway) has a nice little web site.
    http://www.hoyer.house.gov/
There’s an online poll at the site that asks if Healthcare should be a top priority:
As of my (unwanted) vote from a zip code not in Rep Hoyer’s district, the voting is
    @76% AGAINST and @24% FOR.
    http://www.hoyer.house.gov/poll/
Guess they’re gonna have to disable THAT poll soon.

Curse you Rethuglicans for voting against it!  Curse your well organized efforts to skew this poll when the majority of right thinking Americans WANT health care reform!  Isn’t it always the case where just a few naughty people ruin it for the rest of us!

  • Too well dressed?  Now they’re mining their talking points from the Legally Blonde movies.  Brilliant.

  • Actually, the Brooks Brothers brand was bought out years ago and the quality went downhill. That was a typical marketing play of sucker people with a depreciating brand.

Kinda like selling John Kerry as a John F. Kennedy Democrat.

Aspirant middle class, at least on the West Coast is Nordstrom.

  • “I hope people will take a jaundiced eye to what is clearly the Astroturf nature of grass-roots lobbying,” said White House press secretary Robert Gibbs

I wonder how ACORN (AKA Community Organizations International) feels about statements like these …

  • Three thoughts on this.
Funny how the opposition is accused of being organized (not that there’s much in the way of proof offered of a broad overarching vast rwc).  And now somehow that’s now a sin but when the Left organzied their protests, its called activism and ‘being involved’.  Its funny because that message that the opposition is organized by a evil insurance company interests or a vast rightwing conspiracy was out and everyone on page with that new message in about 12 hours.  A message right from the whitehouse.  I guess when they organize a counter to opposition, that isn’t evil.
Anyway, this is all to move the debate off of the plan they are trying to foist upon us.  Its to put the opposition on the defensive and get them off-topic.
And a little side reason for this new tact is that video where Obama was caught saying he’s all for ‘single-payer’ but now denies he is currently going for ‘single-payer’.  He’s was essentially caught in a lie but the right had not congealed on that item yet.  And if you know you’re about to be accused of a lie, accuse your accuser of lying is the best defense.  Because if they somehow deflect your accusation, their sincere accusation seems like retaliatory name calling.
