Happy St. Patrick’s Day
While my patronymic is McQuain (totally Scottish), I am a true Scotch/Irish descendant (and, of course, quite proud of being a true redneck as defined as “Appalachian Scotch/Irish”). My mother’s maiden name was Mackey – about as Irish as one can get.   So, with my ties to the auld sod established I wish everyone a happy St. Patty’s day (especially you, Pogue).Â
Of course none of that really matters today, since this is the one day of the year that everyone is Irish.
I’ll be having a Guiness, or two, later in the day to celebrate everyone’s elevation for the day.
Enjoy.

Best of the day from an Irishman. Thanks for the great blog!
Erin go bra – less McQ!
Thanks for QandO! Sláinte

“or two” – only two?
Â
Here’s to the “ould dart and all her wandering children”, Up the Republic (and ours too….)
Well, I’m only admitting to two. Much like I would answer an officer if he shouild ask me how many I had – “only a beer or two, sir”.
I’ve informed my friends in Ireland that you call it “St. Patty’s”, and not “St. Paddy’s”.
Â
I would advise adjusting travel plans accordingly. They seem a might bit peeved*.
Â
*- I originally said “pissed, but that’s a given, given the Irish.Â
I said St. Patty’s because I didn’t want the Paddy wagon stopping by.
Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh

… though belated…Â (I was indisposed as you might imagine)
