Quote of the day – Jeremiah Wright, chickens and busses edition

You remember this quote from then Senator Obama:

“I don’t think my church is actually particularly controversial.” He said Rev. Wright “is like an old uncle who says things I don’t always agree with,” telling a Jewish group that everyone has someone like that in their family.

You also remember that Obama later denounced his “old uncle” as “divisive and destructive” and severed ties with him? Apparently the Rev. has revealed how far under the bus he was thrown after a 20 year relationship with the Obama family. In a letter to a group raising money for Africa relief he makes the case that his attempt to get frozen money released for use in Haiti would most likely be ignored by the administration:

“No one in the Obama administration will respond to me, listen to me, talk to me or read anything that I write to them. I am ‘toxic’ in terms of the Obama administration,” Wright wrote the president of Africa 6000 International earlier this year.

“I am ‘radioactive,’ Sir. When Obama threw me under the bus, he threw me under the bus literally!” he wrote. “Any advice that I offer is going to be taken as something to be avoided. Please understand that!”

Chickens coming home to roost. And a lesson to anyone who thinks Obama would ever go to the mat for them if they happen to be perceived as “controversial”. There is absolutely nothing “new” about that particular politician or the politics he practices.

  • A lesson to date learned by:
    -the GLBTers
    -the “close Gitmo” people
    -antiwar activists
    -Van Jones
    -those favoring a  “public option”
-anyone opposing renewal of the Patriot Act
    In other words, Obama’s base.

  • he threw me under the bus literally!

I know presidents have immunity and all but I really don’t think it’s right for Obama to be pushing people into traffic. It’s amazing Rev. Wright wasn’t seriously injured.

    • Maybe it was the “Revive the Economy” bus.  Wright was thrown under it, but since it’s moving in reverse, he escaped unscathed.

  • Frankly, Wright knew this was coming even before Obama looked like he mine win the first primary.
The only news is that Rev. Wright has been given any of that good old “Christian forgiveness” and made a “make-up” appearance at the White House.  I don’t know if I should credit Obama for some good judgement, or if his time at Trinity was truly a sham to get that “street cred” that he doesn’t need any more.  Given the level of God-lessness at this White House, I think it must be the latter reason.

    • That was supposed to be “hasn’t been given”

    • Neo…[Imeme's] time at Trinity was truly a sham to get that “street cred” that he doesn’t need any more.

I think that this is mostly true, but I’d say that Imeme’s core beliefs are not particularly at variance with what he apparently heard in the pews at Trinity for all those years.  In other words, his attendence was a sham, but it wasn’t an especially hard one for him to pull off.

  • My heart weeps for this guy. It truly does. And if I could just stop laughing I’d feel really bad for him

  • O is a true moderate, he ignores you fringies as well as your leftie counterparts!

    • Less of course he needs your vote and such – then he’ll spend 20 years pretending he’s your bud.    Depending on how hot the fire gets – as the heat goes from zero to cook  -first you’re his bud, then you’re his strange outspoken uncle, then you’re a pariah.  You be proud of that Tom, because it’s certainly worthy of emulation.

One of Bush’s faults was his dogged loyalty to people – Obama sure has hell doesn’t have THAT problem.

    • You are always good for comic relief, if nothing else. He ignores “fringies” after 20 years of listening to him and taking a whole lot of heat for doing so.

  • so a divisive and controversial character complains that he probably won’t an audience,  if he writes a letter on behalf of the partner of a convicted felon, trying to shake loose some money attached to saddam hussain?
this is your launching pad for another tedious and predictible attack on el presidente?  why don’t you just slap a big fat ‘impeach obama’ logo on this site and shut it down.  maybe you could all find real jobs, or failing that, hop on the tea party express.  it’s bound for oblivion!  LOL.
obama is avoiding a shady character, and this is a fault.  you guys are so … so… damn persuasive.  chuckle.

    • We really don’t go for that impeach stuff … we’d rather he resign .. well may not, he’s got Biden & Pelosi waiting in the wings.

    • History’s not one of your strong suites, is it? He was made to avoid the “shady character” after trying to convince everyonea) he’d never heard what Wright had to say for 20 years and b) then trying to pawn him off as a crazy uncle (I put that reference in there just for the history impaired like you, pedro, and it got right past you). Finally … finally, when it became clear it wasn’t selling well, he pitched the guy he formerly described as like one of the family under the bus.

    • so…two wrongs make a right? With the rule that its only if the second wrong is done by a Democrat? What if the GOP wins in 2012, will you be all right with whatever they pull, since Obama did it too? LOL.

  • my kingdom for the ability to edit my posts.   not that it matters much with this crowd.

    • “obama is avoiding a shady character, and this is a fault” -
Yeah, only took 20 years to finally realize it was a fault to associate with him amigo.  Gather you don’t see that to be a problem.  Which is your problem hefe.  Funny thing, I don’t hang with racists once I discover they’re racists, and I’m a gambling man, I wager you don’t either.  El Presidente – seems, not so much, you holding him to a standard lower than you hold yourself?
Still excusin 20 years of history between the men and trying to tell us Imeme didn’t know Wright had a problem with the white folks?  Geeze dude, that makes Imeme either monumentally stupid or a liar – your choice, you know?  Just sayin, 20 years, that’s a long time to avoid knowin your pastor was a black supremacist don’t you think?

Brother, you picked the wrong topic to back the man on.

    • Like you have a kingdom.

    • Continued Democratic support for a liar – why stop now?
My favorite highlight – “”I think he’s corrected the record in the past and I think his actions as it relates to standing up for veterans over a long period of time speaks volumes about where his heart and his actions are,”

      Translation –
So, it doesn’t matter if he lied, what matters is where is heart was when he was lying, and it was in a good place, trust us, it’s all okay, forgive and forget, move on.

The Democrats, crooked, proud, and above all, forgiving, who could ask for anything more.  So much to be proud of, from pro-slavery, till today.

      • To the post-modern left, there are no lies (on THEIR side), just alternative realities.

    • “not that it matters much with this crowd”

True. A pig is a pig with or without the lipstick.

      • Sorry. I beg forgiveness of the porcine-American community. I shall immediately enroll in sensitivity training.I should have said that a crap sandwich is a crap sandwich with or without lettuce and tomato.
