Donkey, symbol of Democratic Party, blown up in Gaza

Hey, it got your attention, didn’t it?

And yes a donkey did get blown up in Gaza and no, it wasn’t the doing of the Republicans (well, not that we know of). They’d most likely have blown themselves up.

Anyway:

A small Syrian-backed terrorist group in Gaza said its activists blew up a donkey cart laden with explosives close to the border with Israel on Tuesday, killing the animal but causing no human casualties.

Abu Ghassan, spokesman for the terrorist group, said more than 200 kilograms of dynamite were heaped on the animal-drawn cart. He added that the explosives were detonated 60 meters from the concrete security barrier that separates the territory from Israel.

Is anyone else noticing how inept most of these terror attempts are becoming?  The Christmas Day bomber burns his own crotch out but fails to blow up the airplane he’s on.  The Times Square bomber fails in his attempt to explode a propane bomb in the city as planned.

And now we have the donkey bombers.  200 kg’s of explosives, laboriously smuggled into Gaza, rigged for explosion and they kill … a donkey.

They ought to stick with what they do best, for heaven sake – like torching UN run summer camps for children. They seem to be quite good at that. Maybe it’s the lack of armed opposition they find invigorating. Or terrifying children. Who knows?

The one thing I do know is threatening and terrifying children and blowing up donkeys will not be a topic of conversation among the useful idiots at the next “Free Palestine” meeting on a campus near you soon.

  • These inept donkey-blowing terrorists are the reason the US is bankrupting itself fiscally with pointless foreign wars, and bankrupting itself spiritually by ignoring civil liberties enshrined in the Bill of Rights?

    • Something like that, Cap. Then again, maybe it means we’re winning.

Or perhaps it is neither and simply the return of the dreaded Palestinian Donkey of Death.

    • Have you forgotten that some non-inept ones killed nearly 3000 American citizens in the heart of New York City?  It’s fine to laugh at the ones that manage to kill or disfigure only themselve, but to pretend that those are the only ones that exist is simple self-deception.

      • I don’t think that at all Terry, and never inferred they were the only one’s out there. They still build hellacious IEDs that kill every day in A’stan. However, I think it is instructive that there does seem to be a trend of inept or bungled attempts here lately. And I’m simply wondering why.

        • I never thought that the post indicated that you had.  I was responding to Captain Onvious, whose comment seems to indicate that he has.

          • Sorry about that – I answer out of the “Dashboard” and it doesn’t tell me if it is a reply or a separate comment. Made a bad assumption.

  • It is only that they have been harried ceaselessly since 9/11 that they haven’t done that day over.
Considering you can’t name one thing outside the usual historical war powers which have been used to combat them, the rest of your post is trash as mindless as the first part.

  • 50 years from now, the consensus will be that the flypaper strategy was truly brilliant, one shining gem of an otherwise fairly-poorly run anti-terrorism campaign. We are literally evolving terrorism out of the Middle East (both socially and physically) by making having terrorist tendencies a very life-threatening condition.

I do not even remotely think the recent incompetence is a coincidence, and I think you can, for all the faults, lay this turn of events directly at the feed of Bush. He didn’t destroy terrorism but he and his generals damn well seem to have pulled its teeth and trimmed its claws. They may well grow back, but it takes time, and meanwhile, not on the front pages, the selection pressure is continuing…

(It’s becoming difficult for non-state actors to be terrorists, and if the state actors fill in the gaps we have ways of dealing with that. I am not looking forward to a nuclear Iran, but the truth is that a nuke is a weapon they most likely won’t actually be able to use and survive.)

    • “[Bush] didn’t destroy terrorism but he and his generals damn well seem to have pulled its teeth and trimmed its claws.”
Unfortunately, destroying terrorism would require doing some things that we are simply incapable of since, unlike the terrorists, we respect life even of our enemies.

  • but the truth is that a nuke is a weapon they most likely won’t actually be able to use and survive.)

    >>> Assuming they WANT to survive.

    • The Hidden Imam is in the Mushroom cloud.  But Erb knows they’re not interested in actually starting Armageddon.
