Blogrolling Says “Goodbye”
If you use Google Chrome, you may have noticed a horrific security warning that the Blogrolling RPC script is running malware. As of today, you’ll notice that the warning no longer appears. We’ve used Blogrolling for years to generate the links for the Bear Flag League and Old Dominion Blog Alliance. Those Blogrolling links have now been removed.
Tucows, the owner of Blogrolling, has also noticed these problems. Sadly, they’ve decided that it would cost too much to fix the malware and security problems. As a result, Blogrolling will be shut down completely. This is sad, because Blogrolling was really the first useful link aggregator for managing blogrolls. Now, it seems the march of technology has passed it by. I don’t know how blog alliance links will be managed in its absence.
If you are a blogger, and you use Blogrolling, you should be formulating your plans for how you are going to replace it.

First Technorati becomes useless, now this. Heck, I still remember the sense of loss when Truth Laid Bear rankings went haywire.
Thank you! I’ve gotten this warning a bunch of times lately coming over to comment. (I read posts in Thunderbird so I was still able to read the posts, just was having trouble viewing the actual blog.) I always clicked the button to ignore the warning and proceed, but once it even stopped me after that and wouldn’t let me proceed.
Thanks for pulling the plug. I switched to Chrome about a month ago, and the security warnings got old fast.
I’m using IE8, and I have had no warnings or problems at all.
So was it a real problem that Chrome saw but IE didn’t?
Or was it a real problem for just Chrome?
Or was it not a real problem at all.
Firefox didn’t see it either.
This was purely an Issue with Google and Blogrolling. Only on Chrome was there any issue.
People are still doing blog alliances?
Ignore this message. It’s an iPad test.
