No more Pollock jokes. Ever.

The Iraq war has brought quieter parts of the world into sharp relief. Sometimes to their detriment (France) and sometimes to their credit (Poland, Italy, Japan, Spain, etc) I must admit, I've a great deal more respect for the Polish than ever before, as I've seen them stand firm in Iraq even after taking losses. It's days like this, you find out who your allies are.

It's not just on the battlefield that they support us. In a press conference with Bush on Tuesday, Polish President Kwasniewski said this in response to criticisms about the lack of WMDs.....

Many months before Iraqi action, I met predecessor of Hans Blix in Warsaw. I invited him to my palace, and we discussed about mass destruction weapons, Iraq and everything. And he told me very important thing, that Saddam has these weapons or is ready to produce these weapons. Because to have such impression that he has mass destruction weapons is a part of his doctrine to keep own power in Iraq and to be strong in the region.

So I think that it's very difficult today to judge how it was when he had -- when he decided to continue this project of mass destruction weapons. But that was information of predecessor of Mr. Blix in Warsaw, that absolutely Iraq is ready to produce if it's necessary, to keep the power of -- and the dictatorship of Saddam and to play such important role in the region.

More and more information is piling up and it all points to the "waving the empty gun" theory. Saddam seemed to be attempting "Suicide by Marines".

Oh well. Add the Polish President and the predecessor of Hans Blix to the list of people who had reason to believe that Saddam was a WMD threat. But, of course, it was all a ploy by the idiot/mastermind President Bush...even before he took office.

Neat trick.

Still, sometimes Bush does earn some intellectual approbation. What in the world does this mean?

"...then we went to the United Nations, of course, and got an overwhelming resolution -- 1441 -- unanimous resolution, that said to Saddam, you must disclose and destroy your weapons programs, which obviously meant the world felt he had such programs. He chose defiance. It was his choice to make, and he did not let us in."
Uh.....he didn't let us in? I'm pretty sure I recall that differently. Perhaps Bush meant to say that he didn't come clean; he didn't answer questions; he didn't cooperate on substance....whatever. But, he did "let us in".

C'mon, that's a gimme.
