All hail Rumsfeld

It's hard not to like a guy who can tell the press where to stick it. After answering a reporters question, the reporter tries to restate Rumsfeld's answer.......

Q: So at the outside, it could be extended again?

SEC. RUMSFELD: You could put it that way, if you wanted to cause people concern. On the other hand, you could take what I said and report it that way, which I would find accurate.

If only Bush could deal with the press like Rumsfeld can deal with the press.....

I often wonder that some of these people can't see how stupid they make themselves appear to be. Rumsfeld says, basically, no one could possibly predict exactly what a country with a war going on in it will look like in a year. We expected trouble. We didn't know specifically what kind of trouble. We prepared flexibly to respond to it. We got trouble in a form we didn't quite anticipate. We responded well. End of story.

What's not to understand? Maybe anyone who asks a question like these should be required to first spend a tour as a second lieutenant in a combat unit. Maybe then they'd not appear quite so dim.
