Eh. Stupid, but fair game, seeing as Kerry constantly tries to paint himself as this struggling to raise money candidate up against a well financed juggernaut. Politics for those who don't pay attention is all... Posted by: shark at June 2, 2004 10:15 AM |

Adding to what shark said, Kerry keeps blasting Bush as being a friend of the wealthy, beholden to special interests, etc. Besides, Kerry married into his money. Bush got his the honorable way: he inherited it :) Posted by: Steverino at June 2, 2004 11:02 AM |

Could it be that one candidate paints himself a populist and excoriates the rich at every turn? I'm just guessing here. Posted by: spongeworthy at June 2, 2004 11:45 AM |

I don't recall Bush ever having denied being rich, or even trying to downplay it, by claiming to be 'everyman'. Posted by: Bithead at June 2, 2004 03:54 PM |

"Everyman" has nothing to do with it. The problem is that the GOP is criticizing Kerry for his wealth, while ignoring the stack of money in their own eye. And since when did Republicans think wealth was something to criticize? They really don't have much room to talk. Posted by: Jon Henke at June 2, 2004 05:04 PM |

Rather the reverse. You need to recall perhaps that the entire left-wing non-thought is built on the concept hat only blacks can really represent blacks, that latinos can be the only real guardian of Latinos, and so on. Kerry's claiming to represent the "little people". Starting to understand why Kerry and company are on the defensive, here? Posted by: Bithead at June 2, 2004 09:36 PM |

I don't accept the premise that only "little people" can represent "little people", or that the Democrats believe such. Posted by: Jon Henke at June 3, 2004 05:02 AM |

Then, explain to me why they run on those ideas? Posted by: Bithead at June 3, 2004 09:49 AM |
