McCain on Miller
Posted by McQ

I'd bet the Republicans would gladly trade McCain and a couple of future draft choices if they could get Zell Miller for him.

“Well, Zell Miller is a very experienced politician,” McCain, who spoke earlier at the convention, told NBC News on Wednesday night.

“I’m sure he knew exactly what he was talking about. [But] I just don’t agree with the fact that the Democrats are unpatriotic or the assertion that the Democrats are unpatriotic,” he said. “I don’t think they are.”

McCain, you're a dunce. There wasn't a single solitary instance of anyone asserting the Democrats were 'unpatriotic". Although I saw you sitting there during the speech, and I know you got a copy of the text, it is apparent that you are blissfully ignorant or schemeingly disengenous about the 'unpatriotic' canard.

In that speech, Mr. McCain, Zell Miller pointedly and loudly said:

It is not their patriotism, it is their judgement that has been so sorely lacking.

Judgement, Senator. You and the Democrats need to learn the difference between questioning someone's judment and their patriotism. Contrary to your apparent belief, they aren't synoymous.

Appears Mr. McCain isn't the only Republican who doesn't share Zell's views. I saw Mrs. Bush distance herself last night from his speech as well.

Not sharing his views is one thing, Mike.

Mischaracterizing them is another.

Zell Miller was supposed to be in the Prez's box last night, except he wasn't.

Wonder why? Maybe Bush got mad when Zell said he was mad at people - like BUSH - who use term occupiers to describe our troops in Iraq.

Miller is a blithering idiot. I'm so glad he was the GOP keynote speaker. Talk about a lack of judgment. Who the hell let that guy on the stage? He makes the Bush twins look smart. (So much for a Yale education - god, the Kerry daughters look like geniuses by comparison. At least we know Kerry is the better parent.)

Miller is a liar too. Read Kaplan today in Slate. He destroys Miller - and Cheney too.

Maybe McCain the aplogist should check this out:

Yeah, yeah ... everybody's a liar and that's your defense.

Sheesh.

Mkultra-

why do you ignore facts and simply hurl insults? what emotional issue is it that makes you blindly hate Bush?

Are you homosexual? Did you have an abortion and feel guilty? Are you just unable to compete in the free market world, and need someone to blame for your inadequacies?

Its ok. I don't agree with all of the right's ideology either, but I don't understand insulting the Bush twins...or blind irrational hatred.

Maybe as Krauthammer has suggested for all democrats, you need some psychiatric help...but just don't ask me to pay for it.

mkultra,
What part of Dick Cheney's FIRST WORDS being he's glad that Zell Miller is on their side is too difficult for you to understand?

Or is stopping by to post Josh Marshall's talking points your only function?

Posted by: Ricky at September 3, 2004 12:48 PM

Mr. K:

I dislike Bush for what he is doing to this country, and the interests for which he does it.

And yes I am a homosexual who had an abortion. Nice put down.

It's an opinion, of course. But Bush:

1) Started a just war (Afghanistan) that he did not finish

2) Started an stupid war (Iraq) that he had no plans to finish

3) Alienated the rest of the world for no reason (see #2)

4) Serves the interests of the rich over the less well to do

5) Has had everything handed to him and does not appreciate that fact

6) Is a clever politician but has no real grasp of complex policy issues

7) Has no respect for civil rights or states' rights, for that matter

8) Represents everything that America is not e.g., getting by on his name, not on his achievements.

I could go on, of course. And I know that almost everyone else who posts on this site believes the opposite. But you asked the question.

BTW - Am I wrong? Did Bush call us occupiers?

Posted by: mkultra at September 3, 2004 01:52 PM

And let me add one more reason ....

Friday September 03, 2004
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) President Bush on Friday wished Bill Clinton ``best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery.''

``He's is in our thoughts and prayers,'' Bush said at a campaign rally.

Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them.

****

I would like to believe Bush has a soul - I really would.

Posted by: mkultra at September 3, 2004 02:45 PM

I would like to believe Bush has a soul - I really would.

You just couldn't let his words about Clinton speak for themselves, could you MK?

Nope it had to be ended with a pathetic shot.

Amazing.

Posted by: McQ at September 3, 2004 03:02 PM

That "booing" story has already been discredited. Apparently, the reporter forgot that the rally was being video and audio taped when he decided to lie. Go back and check AP's current version.

The Left continues to melt down.

Mkultra-

1) Bullshit.
2) Bullshit. Go read the Quran.
3) Rest of the world = French and Germans. Fuck them.
4) Bullshit. I like money in my hands, not the gov't. And I ain't rich, by any standard.
5)I agree with the first half of that statement, to some extent. But what about terry Heinz's boy toy?
6) He is a clever politician. If complexity = spinelessness, agreed.
7) Bullshit.
8)Bullshit.

The only intended put down was the psychiatric help part.

So, I guess the shoe that fit is the "can't compete in the free market, need a scapegoat" label.

In the words of that great philosopher, R. Lee Ermey, you are the asshole in charge of your own destiny.

Don't blame Bush, and stop being a puss.

Posted by: Mr. K at September 3, 2004 05:26 PM

I'm starting to dislike McCain more and more. He's the Zell Miller of the Republican party. Except that I can repsect Zell's opinions. Besides, McCain is anti-gun. Perhaps he should have run for the democrat nomination. If the shoe fits wear it.

Posted by: Qoolalex at September 3, 2004 05:32 PM

It wasn't too long ago that I recall stories about McCain replacing Cheney on the Bush ticket. Looks like the "off the reservation" problem is ongoing.

1) Started a just war (Afghanistan) that he did not finish

2) Started an stupid war (Iraq) that he had no plans to finish

You really aren't paying attention, are you? Afghanistan and Iraq are two different battles in the same war. They are not two separate wars.

Posted by: Steverino at September 3, 2004 06:21 PM

1) Started a just war (Afghanistan) that he did not finish

Is the Taliban still there? No. Are 10 million people registared to vote in elections in October? Yes. Smells like victory to me.

2) Started an stupid war (Iraq) that he had no plans to finish

Is Sadam still there? No. Is there a new govt with a constition in place? Yes. Victory? Maybe not yet, but very close.

4) Serves the interests of the rich over the less well to do

Is the govt supposed to only serve the poor? Does anyone else count? Bush gives tax cuts for everyone, and the main complaint is the wealthy people benifited too much. Being poor does not give you the right to take someone else's money, even though govt.

Posted by: Frank Castle at September 3, 2004 08:55 PM

Frank...I'm not so sure that the Taliban isn't still active in Afghanistan. Also, I've read that there are more registered voters in Afghanistan than there are eligible voters. Vote early and often? I don't agree with your other points either but you are entitled to your opinion. Cheers!

Posted by: MikeAdamson at September 3, 2004 10:16 PM

Mike Adamson:

There are still Nazis active in Germany. So, what is the status of the war there?

as for the voter registration...are you including NY residents who are registered in both NY and FL? we compare well with Afg. then...

***"Also, I've read that there are more registered voters in Afghanistan than there are eligible voters. Vote early and often?"****

Well, I've read that Elvis' mama is alive and a flying meter maid in Topeka.
Of course, I can say I've read anything (especially if it's from Kos, Atrios, Drum, Conason, et.al) if I don't source it.
