Which Kerr(e)y are they talking about?

Wm Dyer at Beldar Blog has a much stronger stomach than I have. He's begun reading the Boston Globe book "John F. Kerry: The Complete Biography by the Boston Globe Reporters Who Know Him Best". He's barely into the introductin (pg xxvii) when he comes across this:

Do these actions reflect the conflicts of a powerful intellect, of a man who appreciates nuance in policy and deeds but sometimes has trouble translating it to a mass audience? Do his statements and votes on military force reflect the natural caution of a man who was severely wounded in combat, who watched men under his command die, who lost five of his best friends in a war that ended in U.S. withdrawal? ...[emphasis mine]

Severely wounded?

When?

And these are the people "who know him best?"

Riiiight.

He had five good friends?

Knowing his penchant for self-inflicted injuries with grenades, I sure as hell wouldn't want to hang around him!

Died? Who died while under his command? Did I miss that?

And John wanted the War to end and did his best back in the US to make sure it happened....then to lament that he lost 5 friends in a war that 'ended in withdrawal".

So someone has indirectly acknowledged that it might perhaps have meant more if we hadn't HAD to withdraw eh?

Well, maybe they mean recently severely wounded. If they account for his speech a few days ago then it will have to considered self inflicted. But wasn't the first one also self inflicted. Not intentional off course. ;)

Ye gods and little fishes! From a Glenn Reynolds post about a NewsMax link, DOUG BRINKLEY MAY BE GETTING IN POSITION TO UNHOOK FROM KERRY. In a Sunday interview with WABC in NYC, Brinkley says the Pentagon investigation into Kerry's decorations could spell doom for JFK II if it appears he intentionally provided false information.

What is amazing is 1) Brinkley doesn't dismiss the possibility out of hand, and 2) he doesn't defend his own version as-told-by Kerry. Meaning, he has seen and heard enough to at least wonder whether he might have been sold a bill of goods by Team Kerry. Zounds!
