September 16, 2004 The real story of 527s T. Bevan of RealClear Politics drops an interesting little factoid on us concerning the much discussed 527s. Look at this list of the top individual donors to 527's. So far, twenty-five individuals have contributed $58,218,283 to these groups. Of that total, 97% has gone to liberal and/or anti-Bush organizations and Soros and Lewis are responsible for nearly half of that money ($26,830,000) just between the two of them. On that particular list, if you haven't ponied up at least half a mil, you're a nobody. 97% have gone toward sinking Bush. Yet who was the first candidate to really whine about a 527?

Where are all the alleged fat cat republicans who got rich through evil capitalism by skinning babies alive so they could use their evil gotten gains to buy elections so the bought president would bend to his corporate master?
I guess they are all voting Democrat this year.

It is rather amusing for me to note that Bush has been well-outspent so far, and likely will be by the time this is all over.
Which just proves once again my long-stated contention that money doesn't win elections. :-)

The Bush/Cheney campaign did file a complaint with the SEC about the left-leaning 527s back on March 31 and had actually complained about them out loud before that.
March 31. Isn't that something like 12 years ago in "blog years"?
