It shows good progress for the Environmentalist religion, to have the state demand a tithe for burnt offerings.

Environmentalism will have to keep up with Europe’s other new age religion, though I predict that a merger of the two churches isn’t far off.

Neither European "church" will survive when they run up against Europes most aggressive growing religion- Islam.

They’ll survive long enough to make sure of an orderly transition, however. The "cult of death" will be particularly helpful in that respect.

Oh, no, you don’t get it. The logic is absolutely perfect. It follows the premises as night follows day.

Apart from the obviously stupidity in this tax – what about scouts bonfires etc. – I wonder hove much carbon dioxide the helicopter is letting out during patrole?

If so a link would be appreciated. The article cited was published today by the news service cited. A little late for an April Fool joke.

"The government of Belgium’s French-speaking region of Wallonia, ..., has approved a tax on barbequing"

There is a reason the inhabitants are called Walloons. If you tax BBQ in this country, you definitely risk a civil war, and I know which side I am on. You think the Tea Tax caused problems?

Well, I would note that this Russian web site is apparently the only site carrying the story. Perhaps some confirmation is needed before we make too much hay of it.

I guess we need to remind folks for the three millionth time (don’t exaggerate!) that it was Congress during the Clinton/Goracle years that rejected Kyoto. So it’s a mystery why this is a "repudiation" solely of the Bush administration, which has done nothing except to carry on the status quo.

If we need a new tax, I would propose a tax on “hot air” levied upon any politician who opens his mouth. That along with a tax on “bovine scatology” and ”idiotically” would allow the politicians to fund all governmental programs out of their own pocket.

Prepare to bend over and grab your ankles.
So when is it ok to make them take cover?

Do you have to wait for your children—and everyone’s children—to have a bleak future? Or just more bleak than it needs to be?

Yeah, but I have to ask, just to make sure myself... What party was in control of congress at the time? Was it pre-take back, or were the Repubs in control?

It really doesn’t matter ... as I recall, the vote was something like 95-1 in the Senate and not much different in the House.

Satire is not funnier when it can’t be told from the headlines.

They scan homes now warrantlessly for the heat signature of grow rooms, trying to catch pot producers. How is the headline McQ gave a stretch?

Ahh. with such a hugely one-sided vote, no it doesn’t matter. However, had it been a close vote, it certainly would have mattered who control congress.

Okay, Mr. Fish… you beat me to the punch… this time.

Meanwhile,
I don’t know how you folks do it. But around here, two things occur at our barbeque.

The women are inside sipping wine and tossing salads.
The men are outside flipping flesh and tossing pints.

So wouldn’t eating uncooked vegetables offset any carbon footprints made by cooking meat?

I think so.
So I stand as I remain… golden.

Cheers.
And I’ll have mine crusted in garlic and cooked rare.

Uh no, old boy ... methane. Don’t ya see ... methane. The "end" result as they say.

Worse than CO2.
And I’ll have mine crusted in garlic and cooked rare.
OK now I’m hungry.

Imagine me now going into my backyard for a covert grilling session because my grilling tax hasn’t been paid.

Hmm... good example why a conservative replacement is needed for Bush in 2009. When one of the 4 libs resign, or maybe Mr. Finger-in-the-Wind Kennedy, another Scalia-like Justice needs to be appointed to take their place. Thank God Harriet Miers didn’t make it, if she had I bet if would have been 6-3 instead of 5-4.

Amen!

The best charcoal is made from the homes of politicians who vote for that sacrilege.

McQ,

As suspected it was an April Fool’s joke. It got mentioned on the radio over here on April 1st (as a joke) but I couldn’t find a link to it until today.
