This can’t be, Israel can’t win in any way, Professor Erb told me so.
They need to just stop and wait for the UN to come in a broker a cease-fire that Hamas can violate at will, that’s the only way Israel can win. |

Hamas in the Gaza Strip seems eager to agree to a cease fire with Israel, while the Syrian based Hamas leadership in exile isn’t quite that ready. ZNeither, let’s recall, is Iran. |

In a perfect world, they’d give the populace of Gaza 3 days to offer up the cowards who are "escaping" among them.
If they didn’t get enough, the onslaught would continue.
Please bring the cull to it’s full conclusion. |

I have watched over the years as Israel has bowed to international and American pressure to comply with cease-fires that in the end cause more misery for their country and people. The old saying, "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me", has applied for decades in Israel’s battle for survival. Israel seemly has achieved even less security for doing what was "right". Therefore it is time for them to eliminate Hamas. That has a cold ring and for a people who suffered the Holocaust it might not be possible to justify such an path, but the choice is clear to me. WMD, in the hands of irrational terrorist organizations such as Hamas, is now just a few short years away from reality. Hamas has publicly called for Israel’s destruction and the death of its people, therefore, IMHO Israel must chose between national suicide or the destruction of Hamas. Hezbollah will eventually have to be faced as well.
Anyone who has not lived a sheltered life and thus has faced bullies in the schoolyard can picture the dilemma the West faces with terrorist organizations. The difference is that the schoolyard bully usually learns his lesson after all reasonable, civil efforts have been exhausted and he is finally physically confronted; however those who have a mission from God do not. |

I believe that this is all the proof we need of Israeli "disproportionality" and therefore of Israeli War Crimes. The only just thing for Israel to do is shoot or deport 100 of its own troops, anything less is prima facie evidence of Israelis War Crimes.
Further this necessary 1:1 loss ratio demonstrates the utter futility of war as a conflict resolution device and thus that the Gaza operation and the Iraq War are and were unwinnable.
Only Iran is profiting from these Nazi-like Aggressions that have unfairly and unjustly killed their opponents at a disproportionate rate FAR greater than the acceptable 1:1 ratio.

This is just a clever trap. Hamas will prevail. Prof. Erb will be vindicated.

Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. The next step, of course, is getting everything they want in the cease-fire agreement to include stopping arms smuggling into Gaza through the Philadephi corridor (border with Egypt). This is precisely the shape of the ceasefire agreement that was on the table before all this killing. |

This is precisely the shape of the ceasefire agreement that was on the table before all this killing. Guess they wanted to do it the hard way - Hamas I mean. That’ll teach ’em not to launch rockets at Israel the next time, won’t it? |

This is precisely the shape of the ceasefire agreement that was on the table before all this killing. Uh....is that the shape before or after Hamas started firing rockets to get what they wanted?
You were trying to make some kind of point here, right? It’s not clear on what you’re trying to say Retief. |

Retief names himself after the ultimate SF diplomat.... without apparently remembering that A) Retief was by no means a pacifist, and B) the author (Kieth Laumer) who came up with Retief also came up with Bolo’s, the Ultimate Supertanks with firepower measured in megatons per second. |

Retief names himself after the ultimate SF diplomat. I loved that Keith Laumer character (almost as much as the dinochrome brigades).
Yeah, Irony immune or what, isn’t he. Much of what Retief in the novels did would have been anti-UN (in today speak) and illegal in the sense of do whatever it takes to accomplish your mission.
Unfortunately for him, this troll form of retief sounds like exactly the people that character Retief in the novels would skewer. Pompous, ideological, no common sense whatsoever. |
