Fashion Week is Here!
Posted by: Dale Franks on Saturday, February 05, 2005

One of the great things about Fashion Week every year is that I get a chance to see what the cools guys are all wearing. Stuff like this:

AP Photo/Bernat Armangue

Say what you want, but you have to be tough to wear this outfit in public.

Now, for some of you, that might be a little too monochromatic. And if you have fair skin, it'll make you look too pale. So, something a little more colorful might be in order.

Unfortunately, this suit doesn't come with a volume knob.

Notice also the purse, with it's heavy chain instead of the traditional leather strap. Very butch.

One long-ignored segment of the population among designers has been the criminal underclass. This year, however, Luxior serves this segment of the poulation with this stylish robbery getup for men.

Notice that it not only comes with an integrated, identity-hiding mask, but a stylish and capacious leather purse provides a convenient place for stuffing your loot, or concealing a firearm.

Elegant evening wear for men hasn't been ignored, either.

Three words: Hats are Back!

There's also a strong retro element to men's fashion this year, such as this outfit.

Reuters/Charles Platiau

This is a suit heavily influenced by styles from the 1930s, and the ingestion of psilocybin mushrooms

Of course, we certainly can't ignore the ladies. It woudn't be fashion week without women's fashions.

It's winter, and what's better for winter than a cozy sweater?

Reuters/Max Rossi

Apparently, as long as the neck and shoulders are warm, you'll be just fine.

Bold designers are breaking all the rules this year, departing from traditional concepts, such as...well...clothing.

As an added advantage, there's a $1,000 reward to the first woman seen wearing this in public.

Stretch Couture is also degigning clothes for the shy gal this year.

Reuters/Giampiero Sposito

Advantage: You can be seen, without actually being seen. Disadvatage: While wearing this dress, you can't see either. Or hear, for that matter.

Finally, what Fashion Week roundup would be complete without the classic party dress?

Reuters/Seth Wenig

This colorful little frock by Heatherette slightly emphasises the hip line of the petite woman.

I'm sure we'll soon be seeing these new fashions on everyone.

Yeah ... I especially like the fact that hats are back.

Now if I can just find one with a veil (and a few of those magic mushrooms Dale’s talking about).

Good lord - get that last girl a hamburger or a box of fruit roll-ups or a protein shake - something, anything to eat.

Um - that "shy gal" dress is the latest example of "questioning wear". When you're not quite sure of which restroom to use, you know? Quite a few trips to the gym might be required to "carry this one off". The "dress" looks like it weighs about 40 lbs, and that is not a woman's knee.

I am sorry to report that we here in the sunny south will not be adopting the "tres bleu" criminal underclass outfit. We might have to run, and the pants just don't allow for free and easy movement. Mincing down an alleyway as fast as you can is a bad way to escape from the cops.

The hat is nice.

I know of no man - Democratic, Republican, Green, Libertarian, straight, gay, bi, left-handed, right-handed, believer, agnostic, atheist, Red Stater, Blue Stater, American, foreign, Mary-Ann or Ginger - who would voluntarily wear any of that clothing.

I'm so glad that I dropped by to see how I should be dressing myself and my husband this season!
I should be so cozy in the sweater that covers my shoulders when it's 12 degrees here. Also, when my husband robs our local bank...I'm sure those pants won't give him away!!

GREAT BLOGSITE!! By the way, Michele linked me to you and I'll definitely be back!

Innovation for the French Barrette
Le barrette d’elite Le chignon adornment

Now, there is a high style barrette, that has real
gems such as ruby, sapphire, emeralds, presented in
14k handcrafted unique one of a kind adornments.
Barrette creations are held to the highest quality
gem selection and designs. Clips can be replaced
if and when needed, but barrettes are forever with
each featured in an timeless fashion.
It’s no longer necessary to have your brooch sewed to your hair.

Long hair, short hair, the barrette fashion gap
has been met, now barrettes are for all women
since the introduction of precious gems
and 14k material. This innovation will help
to unfold many higher fashion styles.Since
precious gems have not been offered up until
this point in time.
Barrettes are still going to be a big accessory
with Oscar and any other red carpet type event but
these will not be the metal and plastic versions
available every where. We did see a preview of
this trend at the Golden Globe awards when actress
Uma Thurman wore a beautiful rose shaped hair clip
worth a reported value of $23,000.
