Parade of Pessimism II
Posted by: Dale Franks on Saturday, January 07, 2006

The boys over at the Left-wing "Sadly, No!" blog, are in a towering snit of angry moral superiority over my pessimism post. They are very very unhappy. So are their commenters.
When Dale Franks expresses his barely-veiled hope that America will lose the war on terror, his treasonous abandonment of our troops in the field formally exempts him from the protection that American soldiers have earned him and his family, according to the Constitution.
Oh. Yeah. I'm the guy complaining that the Left, who wants us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, who believe the Whole War on Terror is a fraud cooked up at Halliburton headquarters, and that the government of the United States under a Republican president is more threatening than Islamofascism, points of view which the Sadly, No! guys essentially support, and yet, I'm the one who's treasonously abandoning our troops.

When you think about it, that's kind of an odd response from people who don't really believe there actually is a War on Terror in the first place.

Heh.
After a fair trial, Franks will of course be executed in a suitable fashion, and we hope that the stench of Franks's ripe, gibbetted corpse will serve as a reminder to his family and neighbors — for if not, a suitable lesson can be arranged. The best army in the world, after all, will have little trouble firing into a cold ditch, and that is where we expect them to encounter Franks's loved ones, should the lesson of his death escape them. Five in the noggin to you and yours, Franks, and may your dead body swing slow in the moonlight, pelted with rocks and garbage by patriots.
Yeah? Really? And who's going to do it? You, the guys who believe the death penalty is wrong? Who's gonna pull the trigger? I mean, it's the guys on my side of the political divide who own all the guns. Good luck with that.

Of course, I have three guns lying around here someplace, so if it comes right down to it, you'll probably have to borrow one of mine.
I can be as partisan and nasty as the next guy, but can we all agree that posting murder fantasies about your political enemies is wrong and really, really creepy?
I wasn't posting murder fantasies about my enemies. I was making a deal. We let your politicans run the government, and pretend there is no struggle against Islamic fundamentalists. If they're wrong, and an American city gets nuked due to their treasonous negligence, then they expiate that sin with their lives. Seems fair to me.

In tort law, there's the "one bite rule", which is if you own a dog, and it bites someone, then the first time, you don't have liability, because it was an unexpected act. After that, however, if the dog bites someone else, then you are liable, because the dog now has a known propensity for biting, which places the burden on you for preventing him from doing so.

9/11 was the one bite. Apparently, for your side, that wasn't enough.
Did you leave a trackback? I did. I wanna see how he tries to justify this sort of thing, if he pulls the O'Reilly bit about how "it's all just a big joke! Get a sense of humor, guys! I don't really stroke my penis thinking about hanging you stinky hippies!"
Actually, while it was hyperbolic, it wasn't a joke. I would consider it a Jeffersonian "watering the tree of Liberty".

But you want my justification? Ok. Here it is: Politicans who, through active negligence, would enable an American city to be nuked by our enemies after 9/11 would deserve to be strung up. That enough justification for you, there, Sparky?

In the real world, of course, we'd have a fair trial before the hangings. But, the hangings would be perfectly deserved.

And, no, actually, I don't stroke my penis thinking about it. As it happens, I have someone who takes care of that for me. I admit, though, the sense of justice served in that event would provide a certain grim satisfaction.
My fave! Let's make a deal with an unpredictable outcome whose causality can never be known! Hmm, in these guy's world Dean could be prez for one second and LA glassing over would be his fault, but see 9/11 what wasn't Bush's fault although he was prez, because it's always the Dems fault no matter what.
Now, no one believes that another terrorist attack won't ever happen again in the US. If our national leaders do everything in their power to prevent it, that's one thing. If they intentionally pursue policies that minimize our ability to prevent it, then they have a much greater culpability because of their negligence.

I think the causality would, in fact, be fairly obvious.

Most things are the Dems fault though, now that you've brought it up.
I also love how that guy would only be happy with a GENERATIONAL WAR. Jeesus the fudge muffin? You can't have a war on a religion, do they want a 30 years war? A 100 year war? Exactly how do they propose to win such a thing? Why aren't they advocating a draft? Clearly we need a draft for such schemes.
Apparently, you ain't too good at that readin' deal. I didn't say "generational war". I said "generational struggle". I even defined our best offense in that struggle as "The best defense is a good offense, offense, in this case, being to transmit the culture and values that have underpinned Western economic and political dominance to the Muslim world. That means promoting democracy, limited government, human rights, and free markets to a region of the world where they have been essentially nonexistent for the last millennium."

Hey, here's a neat trick you might want to look into: Try responding to what I actually write, instead of responding to what you imagine I mean.
I don't get it — how come they always have something about people being "naked" in these little murder fantasies?
Well, because the humiliation makes it so much more exquisite. Geez, I'd've thought that would be obvious.
Increasingly hostile world? Is he f*cking serious? Well except for world war 1, world war 2, korea, the cold war, viet nam ect.
*Sigh* I didn't mean "the most hostile world environment ever". I just meant increasingly hostile compared to the current environment. But, thanks for chiming in there, Mr. Literal.
Tim- the wanking has gotten more and more intense lately, not to mention more violent. Whereas it used to be "MSM SUX LOL!!1!" it's not "MSM SUX THEY MUST DIE!!1!"
Well, to be fair, I didn't mention the Liberal media at all. In fact, I'm not really a big complainer about the Liberal media, I don't think. So, I'm not sure where that came from. Indeed, I'd never counsel more than a moderate number of lashes for the liberal media. Or, what they'd consider an even worse punishment...stop consuming their product.
...maybe we'll get serious about defending the United States, her people, her freedoms, and her values...
"That is, when we're not actively undermining them by abrogating the Constitution, destroying peoples civil liberties, and generally making a mockery of representative democracy."

Ooh, he's a smooth one.
Are you sure you should've even made those comments publicly? I mean, what with the danger of the Secret Police bursting through your door at midnight and all. You are so brave to speak truth to power like you do, man.
And really, there's nothing as Constitutional as a lynch mob. It's what the Founding Fathers would have wanted.
Uh, well, actually, a great number of the founding fathers would've been perfectly fine with it. Thomas Jefferson mused that the people should revolt against the government every couple of generations or so, just to keep the government honest. It that whole "watering the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and patriots" deal. You don't axtually know all that much about the Founding Fathers, do you? A lot of them thought that lynch mobs directed against government officials from time to time might, on the whole, be a salutary process, all things considered.
hmmm, no mention of what would happen if an American city were to drown in a toxic soup...
Are you offering to add that to the deal? 'Cause, I'm cool with that.
I thought we were part of the Communist menace that would destroy everything decent and WASP-ish. Now we're a bunch of limp-wristed intellectuals.
You're both. I'm sorry, I thought that was understood.

UPDATE:

Let me make it clear to the Lefty commenters: My only point is this: If the war on terror is a big sham, then go ahead and make a government that operates on that assumption. But—and this is a big but—if you're wrong, then it will be be innocent American citizens who will pay for your misjudgement. It's not unreasonable to ask you to put your own lives on the line as earnest for your beliefs, considering that other American citizens must pay the price for your policies, if they turn out to be flawed. Interestingly, though, you refuse to do so, which speaks volumes about the actual confidence you have in your policies.

This was a reference to it being Bush’s fault that NO flooded. I guess the writer missed the part where they discovered the levees were constructed incorrectly (which BTW was constructed and reported to be insufficient during the 90’s...clearly Bush should be blamed anyway).

This one still doesn’t get that being limp-wristed intellectual was a significant portion of aiding the communist menace.
Just as it’s now a significant portion of aiding Islamoterroistjihadicalipatenannystateuberalles-ism.

(Mary Poppins will be singing that in the remake....).

Still on other fronts, don’t worry about the decline of the west and ascension of the Islamic 12th century ists.
As soon as they take away all the neat hand out programs in western Europe and start loping the hands OFF the Islamists will discover there’s probably even still some of Charlemagne’s gene pool still lingering in France.

what a pussy bedwetter you are. You may be willing to sacrifice your own liberties to keep you from wetting yourself, but you’re not going to sacrifice mine.

Question: do you think it’s a coincidence that the city most in favor of civil liberties, most against Bush’s illegal spying, most unwilling to give up their freedom, is the one that was actually attacked? I live in NY. I saw 9/11 — from about 20 blocks away. And, unlike you, I’m not a pussy bedwetter. Sure, there’s all manner of civil liberty-denying methods we could use to marginally increase our safety. But New Yorkers, a very blue-state bunch, are unwilling to do them — even though we know we might get attacked again. That’s because, unlike you, we’re not pussy bedwetters. Nor was Patrick Henry.

Will Lester at the AP:

A majority of Americans [aren’t pussy bedwetters and] want the Bush administration to get court approval before eavesdropping on people inside the United States, even if those calls might involve suspected terrorists, an AP-Ipsos poll shows.
Over the past three weeks, President Bush and top aides have defended the electronic monitoring program they secretly launched shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, as a vital tool to protect the nation from al-Qaida and its affiliates.

Yet 56 percent of respondents in an AP-Ipsos poll said the government should be required to first get a court warrant to eavesdrop on the overseas calls and e-mails of U.S. citizens when those communications are believed to be tied to terrorism.

What should we do with politicians who covers up Pakistani proliferation, are lax with the Russian nuke problem, and refuse to take down the rich Saudis and their agents who enabled and funded 9/11 and are no doubt assisting future attacks?

That’s because you’re idealogically closer to Bin Laden than you think....

Look, it’s simple enough. If a blue state gets attacked again, clean up your own fucking mess, not a dollar from any Red State should ever help you fools again..

Shark - That’s hilarious. If we were closer Idealogically to Bin Laden, why would he want to harm us?

The truth is liberals are all about freedom, and if what commander codpiece says is true, "they hate our freedoms", they would hate us more than anyone...

But we all know that’s not why terrorists hate America. If they hated freedom so much, Switzerland and Canada would be nothing but dust and embers.

Bush is Osam Bin Laden’s best friend. You couldn’t have come up with a policy more suited to furthering Al Qaeda’s goals if Bin Laden were president of the United States. We have diverted all of our funds, military and attention away from the people who attacked us on 9/11 so that we can lose men and treasure to create more terrorists in a country that was not supporting terrorists, while kissing the asses of those countries who do - Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

We have done nothing to protect the homeland or give our soldiers body armor, but have done everything to increase nuclear proliferation so that America is more in danger of terrorist attack than ever before. Terrorist attacks have gone up around the world over 800 percent since Bush’s "War for Terror" began, which is how he wants it.

Make no mistake. The blood of the next Americans who die at terrorists hands will be because the Republican party is more interested in lining their pockets and paying off political contributors than fighting terrorists. Bin Laden sits in the mountains of Afghanistan, unmolested, plotting his next attack on us so that Republicans can make pretty speeches not backed by action. Why would the chickenhawks volunteer their lives to fight an enemy that has been such a godsend for them?

Make no mistake about it. Republicans don’t want to fight terror. They don’t see terrorists at the enemy. Terrorists are only a tool they use to fight the only real enemy they see: non-Republicans. Everything they can do to increase terrorism around the world only gives them more excuses to attack their enemies and increase their political power.

Not one more American should die on behalf of Republican corruption and incompetence. If they don’t have the backbone to do what it takes to win, it’s time to bring in someone who can.

Yeah, there we were...invading Egypt.....sacking Mecca, burning Medina...
Keeping Sadam out of Kuwait, making him responsible for his behavior....

No wonder they were pissed at us and flew planes into the WTC....

Yeah. Clinton attacked Bin Laden after the first attack on the WTC, and you guys whined like babies. After OK City, when Clinton passed an anti-terrorism law, you guys whined like babies.

Sure, you talk tough, but your pundits won’t leave the safety of their computer keyboards to actually risk their lives for a war they’re only willing to sign book deals to support. They’d rather pinch pennies denying armor to our troops and cutting their benefits, and make them pay for their meals after they get shot not fighting Al Qaeda than actually make a personal sacrifice for this war they’re only willing to profit from.

You like to talk about supporting the troops but when it comes to actually doing it, you’re MIA. Supporting troops for you means that you insist other people go on the two-way firing range in Iraq. Where was your President’s spine when you had Bin Laden pinned in the mountains of Tora Bora? No, you had to move the military to another country before you’d take him on!

Nuclear weapons production has more than quadrupled in North Korea since your boy King took power. The rate at which former Soviet nukes had been dismantle has ceased. The nuclear scientist in Pakistan who had been found passing secrets to North Korea has been set free with Bush’s blessing. CIA assets used to hunt down actual WMD programs have been compromised for cheap partisan political potshots.

Nothing has been done to secure our ports or nuclear plants from terrorist attack. Why should he? For Bush, the War for Terrorism is merely an excuse for turning Bush into some kind of demi-god for your unquestioning worhsip, and an excuse to attack anyone who doesn’t support his policies that have been designed to increase terrorists and terrorism around the world, so that America can be less safe.

For once, I’d like to see your party put the good of the nation over cheap partisan politics.

Nope....
No sleep being lost on the person who revealed one of the most secret programs

Why on Earth would Bush use wiretapping authority to track down Al Qaeda? If that was what he was doing, he’d get a warrant retroactively. Tracking down a terrorist cell only benefits him politically if he can time the leak of that information to raise a terror alert whenever people start to clue into his incompetence.

I refuse to see why not being duped by an incompetent trust-fund baby makes me de-facto soft on terrorism. It means I’m not a gullible dupe who jumps every time my favorite radio show host tells me to.

Well, see, there you go. I’m willing to let you guys run the whole show. Since you’re so confident and all, and since the American people will pay the price if your wrong, then you should have no problem agreeing to join them in paying the price if your wrong. You make it sound like a risk free proposition.

So, where’s the problem?
Yeah. Clinton attacked Bin Laden after the first attack on the WTC, and you guys whined like babies.

Well, yeah, but only because we thought his response was feckless and ineffective.
Why on Earth would Bush use wiretapping authority to track down Al Qaeda? If that was what he was doing, he’d get a warrant retroactively.
Because surveilling enemies in wartime doesn’t require a warrant? Because doing so was done as a matter of course in the past? I mean, if I was just guessing.
I refuse to see why not being duped by an incompetent trust-fund baby makes me de-facto soft on terrorism. It means I’m not a gullible dupe who jumps every time my favorite radio show host tells me to.
No. What makes you a gullible dupe who’s soft on terrorism is your belief that the Administration of George W. Bush is a greater danger than islamofascist terrorism.

Now why would Book name Abramoff specifically as a "puppetmaster"? Hmmm...

BTW, I never claimed that you think EVERY member of your conspiratorial organizations is Jewish, though the only ones you mention by name are "coincidentally" Jewish. I stated that the website you linked to previously in reference to the "Puppetmasters" contains an immense amount of jew obsession and hatred and claims of jewish domination. However, some gentiles are merely "tools," remember? So I’m fairly certain you don’t think EVERY "Puppetmaster" has a jewish background.

Regardless of what is said here in comments or anywhere else, it appears that at this point in time, Americans are more divided than ever over the basics of fighting terrorism, much less the need for a GWOT. The 911 attack visuals are not shown by the media, unlike those of Pearl Harbor during WWII, supposedly so as not to antagonize Americans against Moslems; which didn’t happen after 911 regardless of what the media anticipated, so why worry now. A few often repeated 911 visuals might help draw us together, since maybe then we could remember who the enemy really is rather than eye each other.

It would appear, as sad as it is to say, that our country will need another massive deadly enemy attack to recover our unity and direction. Those of us who do have survival instincts can’t do too much now, but the Minutemen Project is trying and having some results in congress. Most of us will just watch the politics and the GWOT play out and hope for the best. Seemingly, if we can’t handle intercepts of communications with the enemy to or from our country, something that Democrats and Republicans have done or worse since WWII, then one could easily believe we don’t deserve to be safe from attack.

The record is replete with statements from those that believe America is the source of the terrorist problem and who advance policies of defeat. Whatever one thinks of the necessity of the Vietnam War, ideas based on the minimum impact on the United States of the way that war was settled have little validly in this war. North Vietnam was not a direct threat to us; our present enemy has already proven the threat they represent and has stated their intent to eliminate the Western Judeao-Christian culture using what ever means are available.

The people in my circle of friends and acquaintances have the mindset of the Greatest Generation and will definitely not forget, if there is another attack, those that put us in a state where an attack was more possible than probable. God help the enemy and their witting or unwitting advocates, whoever they are, once the sleeping giant within America is awakened.

Apparently, the folks at "Sadlyno" have been spreading death threats and other such nonsense to other sites.

Which certainly isn’t to suggest that it’s alright, but rather, that their solution to those who differ with them seems to be a rather final one.

Is this how the Left operationalizes the ideas of freedom of speech, marketplace of ideas, and "dissent is patriotic"? The mind boggles at what such folks would think appropriate if the tables were reversed, and they were in power....

The Great Generation had John Wayne. Now we have Brokeback Mountain. After thirty years of our public schools operating as Feminist castration factories, America’s boys are now on Ritalin, live with their single mother, and can’t get their fat ass off the sofa to turn the television channel. God help us indeed. By the way, the Great Generation is now wearing Medicare diapers and their Social Security checks are now bankrupting McQ’s four grandchildren.

What a screaming, stinking pile of horseshit!!!
Book,
I’ve been reading your comments on this site for the few weeks that you have infested it. And until recently, I disregarded your comments as the musings of a misguided, immature child. Your recent comments on other threads, including this one, have led me to believe that you are in desperate need of guidance. You’ve laid some big turds around here, and since other readers have adequately scooped and discarded them, I have refrained. But this meaningless tirade has prompted me speak out.

You need help! And in order to receive help, you must first obtain the sympathy of others. And your capricious homophobic, anti-Semitic chauvinism will not help you.

Perhaps you should find another crutch to lean on for your mental instability.

Really...I still won’t go with Pogue to see Brokeback Mountain.

I’m not going to see it either. Not because it’s about gay cowboys (hell, I thought all cowboys were somewhat gay. I mean, what’s up with the mechanical bull? Very suspicious.) But because it’s a total chick flick.
I’d much rather see King Kong. I hear it’s the best movie about an angry monkey tearin’ shit up since Fahrenheit 911.
