The gift that keeps on giving
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, January 26, 2006

National Journal's "Hotline" has picked up on the Blunt/QandO bruhaha. And yes, I'm still poking at it with a stick, because, well, it's fun.

McQ,

Everything’s more fun when you can poke at it with a stick.

This is hilarious.

Why do you continue to make yourself the center of attention? You actually think the race for leader is all about you and your blog. You are gushing with pride that a Congressman would even respond to you and you cannot get enough.

Grow up.

Just out of curiosity, Hamlet, who do YOU think it’s all about?

QandO did get a lot of play recently over this. In a previous thread, commenter Tezcatlipoca characterized it nicely: when you respond publicly to relatively low-visibility media like bloggers with focused attention and a little snide comment, it’s like negotiating with terrorists. You aren’t making progress; you’re granting legitimacy 9or in this case, increased visibility) to your opponent.

Actually Hamlet, we’re just having fun with it.

Foreign concept to you?

It’s about a unified conservative front headed into the critical 2006 elections. We might lose the House if we’re not smart. Stop giving the other side the ammunition.

Well you can forget it if Blunt’s the man. And besides, we’re a libertarian site and we don’t march in lockstep for anyone.

Oh and how are we "giving the other side ammunition".?

WE didn’t answer our post, THEY did.

Yeah ... an why would we turn down a little increased visibility? Heh...

What in the HELL are you talking about? Are you one of those people who walk in and just pull the lever with the ’R’ next to it? What kind of platform are you looking for from this ’unified conservative front’? If you are truly a conservative, then why would you not support Shadegg and his desire for "fiscal discipline, limited government and traditional values"?

And I believe it’s already been said, but around here you’ve got a nasty little bunch of libertarians running around. We like to ask tough questions and hopefully discover good answers. Anything too ’unified’ becomes impressed with itself and forgets what it was originally intended for.

That’s not such a bad thing in my mind when one considers the the complete lack of any adherence to the (stated) conservative agenda of small government, individual choice and personal responsibility by the current power borkers in the House.
Stop giving the other side the ammunition.
Stop spending my fucking my money like drunken sailors in Bangkok.

Hmm ... that was supposed to be "brokers", but I kinda like it as is. Sounds gluttonously horrid.

Well, fine, I guess you are all relying on Speaker Pelosi to advance the Libertarian agenda...

Borking is a fairly vicious thing, but I’m not sure it’s gluttonous.

No, we want House Majority Leader Shadegg to advance the agenda, and we will not get a house majority leader shadegg by endorcing roy blunt, and frankly, I suspect the Republicans will lose more at the polls with Blunt than with Shadegg. We are independent thinkers here, we do not put party over policy, because frankly, we have no party.

And Rep. Blunt will? Not bloody likely.

And Speaker Hastert has advanced it how?

Oh yeah, the medicare pill bill, porkapalooza in the highway bill and constant budget deficits while growing the size and intrusiveness of government ... I forgot.

At least if it’s Pelosi, she’ll bring a little color to the job ... it may be "cuckoo orange" but in terms of spending and government’s size, it shouldn’t get any worse ... I mean there will be a Republican president, right?

And look, he hasn’t vetoed anything the entire time he’s been in office so giving that pen a workout for this last two years is a worthwhile project.

For libertarians, that means gridlock, which, at this point is about as far as we can hope to advance our agenda ... the temporary one, at least.

I’d say Hamlet was a rose by any other name but smells of Blunt.

Control - that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Not actually DOING anything
useful. Like the cheesy thug who becomes a cop because he gets to carry a
gun and boss people around.

The only thing that makes the Republicans even half acceptable is they
are slightly less like the Democrats than the Democrats. That’s not
a great slogan though...

How about:
"Vote Blunt, arrogance and business as usual should be rewarded!"
"Vote Blunt, because we’re not REALLY interested in fixing the problem!"
"Vote Blunt, you’re too stupid to know the difference!"
"Vote Blunt, because he’s better than you!"
and my favorite...
"Vote Blunt, because Ronny Earle doesn’t live in Missouri!"

Err. The current adminstration and Congress MADE the ammo.

Where you been?

Now. That said, the Dems suck far more badly.

Shaddegg should be the man.

Yours, TDP, ml, msl, & pfpp
