The New Libertarian

Mixed messages: There's good news and bad news about the budget deficit, by Jim Glass of Scrivener

First the good news: The projected increase in the budget deficit this year, to $400+ billion from $319 billion last year, doesn't matter.

Now the bad news: The reason why they all don't matter is that their cost is trivially small compared to the that of the mountain-sized avalanche of retirement entitlements that's heading to hit us around 15 years from now.
Read the rest to learn what you really need to know about the looming budget disaster. While we fiddle with discretionary spending, the only thing that seriously matters is...

There's a great deal of quality work being done by libertarians in the blogosphere that just disappears down the memory hole, overwhelmed in the flood of information that is written every day. We'd like to re-publish some of the good pieces at, but it's important that writers and bloggers be aware that the New Libertarian outlet is available for their work. If you'd like to contribute a new article or re-publish something important that you've already written, contact us at QandO.

Given the total lack of comments, I have to guess no one here wants to discuss this either.

In the depths of the Great Depression, FDR introduced an unconstitutional entitlements program which will destroy America’s economy and/or government if it is not radically revised or done away with in some fashion.

The Democrats will not let that happen, and the current ignorance and selfishness of the electorate will let them get away with it until it’s too late.

Part of the answer is to see to the resounding defeat of the Dems in 2006 and 2008, which is the best tool we have now to do away with that party. It is a millstone around the neck of the American body politic. It must go.

And as a recent post here argued, it’s headed that way.

That’s a good thing, push them right over the cliff so we can start dealing with the mess they made.

Yours, TDP, ml, msl, & pfpp
