The weight of the state

You've got to read this story. And keep in mind that although it is one side of the story it's still pretty scary. If true, it shows how easy it is for the state and it's minions, with the power they hold, to ruin your life over what appears to be a grudge held by one officer.

Something similar has happened to my family. Not to the extent of that guy, of course, but a petty public official making things difficult for my family, just because he could. I wondered at the time if the power of the blog could come to the rescue, so I guess we’ll see if Radley Balko’s exposure helps, hurts, or doesn’t affect the outcome. Best of luck to that guy.
