I worked at EDS when this add came out, I even met two of the "Cowboys" at a trade show, unfortunately for EDS these guys had to be carried out of the hotel bar nightly. Classic add, great add. The second add was people building an airplane while it flew. The image it left the viewer was EDS would bail from a job in flight. Unlucky for EDS employee’s, management used the bonus money to make these great commercials. 1 year later the stock plummets from 70 to 11 on word that they cooked the books and the "Great DICK Brown" retires with a 55 million dollar bonus (I love America). Some day that could be me releasing my golden parachute. EDS (Every Day $ucks)never recovers and ends up the saddest of all tech stories. |

I guess I’m one of the few in the country who didn’t think the "herding cats" spot was good. Yeah, it was cute, but 20 seconds after the commercial ran, I couldn’t tell you what company ran the ad. (No, it wasn’t advancing senility :) .) It wasn’t until months later that I learned it was EDS.
So, while it may have been amusing, it failed to do its primary task: make the viewer remember the company.
