A few years ago I was reading one of Bill Mauldin’s books(back Home, I think) and in it he mentioned that he only cared about one decoration; his Combat Infantry Badge(CIB). He said that he would pin it to his shirt under a sweater, and occasionally take a peek at it.
As far as I know, he wrote only three books, and all three are worth reading.
