"Apparently, the kidnappers did not want to end up like Zarqawi," a defense official said. Ya gotta love it. |

It strikes me as rather unlikely. The U.S. certainly doesn’t have the reputation of the Israelis for consequences-be-damned counterterrorism operations. |

The U.S. certainly doesn’t have the reputation of the Israelis for consequences-be-damned counterterrorism operations. Actually they have just gained a reputation which gives them an ability to act quickly and surgically on intel gathered (whether true or not). That’s hardly a ’consequences-be-damned’ operation. And few would condemn or fault an operation rescue a kidnapped American citizen or punish those who kidnapped them. |

Be sure to let me know when the U.S. orders airstrikes or a hostage rescue insertion in the West Bank. |

This sounds more like an off-handed comment from a defense official, than anything else. It certainly dosent seem to present any information to suggest this was the actual motivation of the kidnappers. It just dosent add up, given some of the other comments in here. |
