There’s a new trend in the main stream media these days. When a story they have been running with is headed south they add "cover-up" to the headline to get just a little more mileage out of it. We should see "Rove Indictment Cover-up" before the end of the week. |

Consistently, the US Army has had a worse rep for these sort of things than the Marines. This was true in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. And the US Army has few atrocities on its hands, particularly compared most other forces.

Don, I’m sure we could sift thru the records of the "Banana Wars" in Haiti and on into the 1930’s and find a few. In fact it sticks in my head that the USMC Brigade in Haiti during the First World War committed a FEW massacres. I say this merely to point out that the USMC, like the French Foreign Legion, tends to produce hagiography, not history and so the Marines don’t get bad Press, even if occasionally they might merit it. |
