Today was another photo safari day. This time, it was to the beach at Oceanside, where I took these pictures.

As you can see, a lot of people decided that today would be a good day for a trip to the beach.

These three girls apparently found a surfboard, and thought they'd give it a try. They obviously had no earthly idea about how to use it, but they looked like they were having fun anyway.

This young man, however, did know what to do.

Fishing off of Oceanside Pier is a popular pastime.

As always, a stylish hat is a must.

No doubt this little girl was feeling like the Queen of the World.

I have no odea what these kids were doing at the beach, but, evidently, they were attending some sort of party.

I like computers as much as the next guy—more, probably—but if I had a nice Vaio laptop, the beach would be about the last place I'd want to take it.

If there is a picture that could scream "California!" any louder, I don't know what it would be.
Unless these two girls were also sharing a bong.

The city lifeguards were on the job in force today. Despite what you might believe from watching TV, by the way, the Lifeguards all look pretty much like this guy, not like Nicole Eggert or Pam Anderson. In the real world, the county lifeguard force looks for upper body strength, not...uh...size.

This is not a guy wiping out. He was just doing some tricks. And doing them well.

Note to God: Today's sunset could've been better. The marine layer kind of messed it up. Please try to avoid this in the future.

I'd like to thank the boater who obligingly crossed in front of the sun at the most opportune time.

Oceanside Pier in the twilight.

The beach is emptying out, except for the evening partiers, gathered around the fire pits.

Sure, twirling the flaming stick looks fun. Until someone loses an eye. Or, like this guy, loses control of the stick, knocks a flaming end against his chest, then capers about like a maniac, beating at the hot embers sticking to his skin.
Although, actually, that was pretty funny.
