You remember Jesse MacBeth?
Posted by: McQ on Wednesday, August 02, 2006

He was completely and thoroughly exposed as a fraud in late May of this year. The Internet was full of the "outing". At least in the blogosphere, it was a minor event. Google is replete with entry after entry documenting his fraud.

Somehow Terry Lane of Australia's The Age missed it completely. Not only that, his research was limited to finding only that which supported his premise. In a July 30th piece (a full two months after Macbeth was exposed) entitled "Turning a blind eye to the real horrors" Lane quotes Macbeth extensively and asks:
Why doesn't the Government hold an inquiry into the video evidence of US Army Ranger Jessie Macbeth?
Yeesh. Why didn't you use Google, Terry?

To his credit, Lane takes it like a man.

PS: And yes, Pogue ... it's wednesday.

Nice to see someone stand up and take responsibility for his own actions. No excuses, no silly stories. Wow - it’s refreshing to just hear someone say ’my bad - I was wrong’.

There’s actually hope for the guy, he recognized he wasn’t objective about this because he didn’t want to be objective and he said so to boot!
Almost a pity the only way to demonstrate he understands that is to throw himself on his sword.

As opposed to giving the world a Dan Rather response...

He did take it like a man, and that gets some respect from me no matter how liberal he is. Mary Mapes is still trotting around saying the memos are not forged, and Dan Rather backs her up. We’ve got (as Tim Blair himself documents so well) an epidemic of "plastic turkey" balderdash that never seems to get repudiated. That woman who got tagged in the Tailwind scandal says her allegations about nerve gas usage in Vietnam are still correct, despite the fact that CNN fired her for having to justification for them. Those folks could learn some lessons from Lane.

On the one hand it is refreshing to see one of these people admit his mistake. But it’s equally disturbing that, as he states, "[he] fell for it because [he] wanted to believe it," which should be the new slogan for the left. Think about that. He’s speaking about the U.S. military committing unspeakable atrocities and he wanted it to be true.

No doubt, it’s Wednesday.
You’re like clockwork, McQ. For some time now, I’ve been using QandO to remind me of one of my weekly chores…

Yep, McQ writing about the media again… Must be Wednesday. Time to clean out the stable.

His editor has ’declined’ to accept his resignation. He’s not resigning and, I think, neither he nor the scumbags running the Age had any attention of him ever resigning. The Age is a national disgrace, the paper is so dishonest, leftist and corrupt it’s owners couldn’t find a sufficiently marxist local to edit it and had to import some commie from Scotland, Andrew Jaspan

Once again, we see that it is impossible to shame a lefty, and expect honest, responsible conduct of them is a waste of time.
