There’s actually hope for the guy, he recognized he wasn’t objective about this because he didn’t want to be objective and he said so to boot!

He did take it like a man, and that gets some respect from me no matter how liberal he is. Mary Mapes is still trotting around saying the memos are not forged, and Dan Rather backs her up. We’ve got (as Tim Blair himself documents so well) an epidemic of "plastic turkey" balderdash that never seems to get repudiated. That woman who got tagged in the Tailwind scandal says her allegations about nerve gas usage in Vietnam are still correct, despite the fact that CNN fired her for having to justification for them. Those folks could learn some lessons from Lane. |

On the one hand it is refreshing to see one of these people admit his mistake. But it’s equally disturbing that, as he states, "[he] fell for it because [he] wanted to believe it," which should be the new slogan for the left. Think about that. He’s speaking about the U.S. military committing unspeakable atrocities and he wanted it to be true. |
