New Blog recommendation
Posted by: McQ on Saturday, August 05, 2006

I'm not usually big into recommending blogs (mostly due to simple laziness), but there is a new one of note you ought to know about.

Frequent QandO commenters Lance, MichaelW and Omar the Poet have gotten together to launch "A Second Hand Conjecture" blog. I've always thought all three posted thoughtful, civil and well written comments here to our posts and a quick reading of their initial posts on their new blog finds the same to be true there. Good luck guys.

So, go, look and bookmark. I think you'll be glad you did.

Thanks, Bruce! Personally, I owe a lot to you, Dale and Jon for inspiring me to blog and for affording the opportunity to meet Lance and Omar. I won’t speak for them, but I’m pretty sure they both feel the same way.

One point of note, Lance had actually already started A Second Hand Conjecture a little while ago when Omar and I approached him about doing a group thing, so most of the credit should go to him for getting ASHC off the ground.

Anyway, thanks again for the mention. See you on the internets!

Bookmarked. It looks good. I’ll be seeing you guys.

(and don’t forget to have that "About" link up top actually lead somewhere ;) )

Thanks for the support, big M. We appreciate it! As with MichaelW, I wouldn’t be blogging now if it weren’t for you, Dale, and Jon. Keep up the great work. And thanks to those QandO readers who have stopped by. We’ll be adding lots more material in the weeks to come.

Ornery, I think the About is fixed now, but I’ll check with Lance to make sure.

You guys have been added to my pretty short list of bookmarked blogs. I’ll check often. It’s gratifying to know that three intelligent fellows met here and made something of it.

Incidentally, Omar, having just checked your Bio, I’m curious to know where you live and work.

Many thanks Bruce, Jon and Dale. I had a lot of fun starting the thing up, but it is nice to take a couple of days off and watch Michael and Omar work. They are even better at this than I thought, and I agreed to bring them on board because I already respected what I had seen.

Anyway, I second everything Michael and Omar said, it is in large part due to you guys that I got off my duff and finally started this thing. As for the technical issues, I am working on them. For now if you want the about page you have to look on the right side menu. By the end of the weekend I hope to have a few more features added and some issues cleared up. I knew nothing when I started, so I am learning on the fly.
