Ahmadinejad: "an interesting man"
Posted by: McQ on Thursday, August 10, 2006

I can only imagine this is a result of surprise from unrealized low expectations or [gasp] bias. Said CBS's Mike Wallace of Iranian President Ahmadinejad:
"You'll find him an interesting man," he said. "I expected more of a firebrand. I don't think he has the slightest doubt about how he feels ... about the American administration and the Zionist state. He comes across as more rational than I had expected."
Heh ... Relatively speaking, I'm not sure what that last sentence really means. I'm sure at times, Hitler and Stalin came across "more rational" than some expected.

Of course I'm not sure why Wallace would have had the slightest doubt about how Ahmadinejad felt about the American administration and (love the word he uses) "Zionist" state before he ever sat down with him.

I certainly wouldn't have.

Mike Wallace is Jewish. That a) allows him to use the word zionist without being called anti-semetic. b) means that he was probably expecting Hitler and found something less evil. c) means that he probably cares more about Israel than those of us who can only hold citizenship in one country.

I didn’t accuse him of being anti-Semetic, I was interested in his word choice.
means that he was probably expecting Hitler and found something less evil.
Many people who met Hitler found him charming. That didn’t make him less evil.
means that he probably cares more about Israel than those of us who can only hold citizenship in one country.
Why is that?

Could this be a repeat of Chamberlain’s assurances about Hitler? Ahmadinejad is no fool he has orchestrated this interview for his evil purposes.
Bottom line he wants all of us infidels converted to his brand and will use whatever means he can to accomplish...he believes deeply that he is doing God’s will and was raised up as a leader to rebuild the Persian Empire with a direct descendant of Mohammed ruling the world.

For someone as alledgedly sophisticated and experienced as he is, he certainly has a lot of unmet expectations.

I am also wondering what you mean by c) cindy. Why can’t other people hold citizenship in more than one country?

One of the most surprising things about despots and and murderers is how human they seem. The mythology is built up that they are somehow inhuman, beastly, slavering kooks. It’s sometimes a bit of a surprise to find out that the truly evil tyrant also has a sense of humor, likes cats and is loved by small children.

Right up until he orders your head separated from your shoulders - then he’s no fun at all!

What????????

I always figured that was because we are afraid to recognize something in them that we also see in ourselves.

I don’t think being Jewish exempts you from being a foolish person. Haven’t most of the worlds monsters been very charming? Castro, it is said, was a hell of a funny, witty and charismatic figure.

Mussolini was quite charismatic, if a bit too dramatic. I’m sure Ghengis Khan could charm the buzzards off of a gut wagon.

I think we ought to seriously consider sending a cruise missile into the next big Iranian meeting, kill this idiot and all the top mullahs too. Then just say you didn’t do it. Just deny it. It would teach a valuable lesson to other misleaders.

I also found this strange statement...
There wasn’t any of that this time. Wallace dismissed the common perceptions of Ahmadinejad.

"He’s actually, in a strange way, he’s a rather attractive man, very smart, savvy, self-assured, good looking in a strange way," Wallace said. "He’s very, very short but he’s comfortable in his own skin."
Hinky.

C) means that people born in the U.S. can not have dual citizenship in another country.

If you were born as say a japanese citizen then you can apply for U.S. citizenship and have dual citizenship.

Unless something has changed recently last I heard if someone born in the U.S. wants to become a citizen of another nation they must give up their U.S. citizenship.

As far as Ahkmedarab goes I would gladly pay 5 bucks for a gallon of gas if it meant I only had to read about him in history books.

Many U.S. citizens that were born in another country, such as male children of servicemen, have dual citizenship and must declare citizenship at age 18 or be considered for the military. I don’t recall the countries off hand at the moment but I’ve been retired since 1980 and perhaps some of the laws have changed. Here’s one example

Well let’s see what Wallace thinks of him after he nukes Tel Aviv. It will happen, if only because no one seems very interested in stopping him.

Sorry to say this, but you folks seem to be incurably naive. Spend some time with folks that aren’t hopelessly middle class. Criminals, for example. It’s amazing how ordinary they seem right up until they stick a knife into you or steal your wallet. Grow up, people. Like any other con men they prey upon people, and to do this they must be appealing.

"The Nazi, whom we once abhored,
is now gemutlichkeit.
For when he isn’t making war,
there’s none could be politer.
He woos miss liberty with zeal,
he bows with grace and vigor.
To kiss the hand and click the heel
before he clicks the trigger."

Not sure what you mean cindyb....when a Jewish person refers to Israel as the "zionist" state, that generally indicates some level of opposition to the idea.

Hitler actually predicted the creation of the so-called State of Israel and his prediction is absolutely accurate:

Scroll down half way to read what he said about Israel...it came TRUE!
