iTunes Recommendations Posted by: Dale Franks

Well, now that I have a production studio working again, I can also excerpt music for my periodic iTunes recommendations. I have grabbed a lot of music since my last foray into this area, but I wanted to throw out some highlights.
First up is the new album by Muse, and specifically the song "Knights of Cydonia". I couldn't excerpt it, because it's...unusual in its structure. But it's a very cool song, and reminds me a lot of Queen in their heyday. You should get it.
Beyond that, however, here are some new songs I really liked. The song titles are linked to an MP3 file with a brief excerpt.
Song:Suffocate Artist: Cold Album: Year of the Spider Comments: I like this one a lot, especially using the female vocalist to do the counterpart to the lyrics of the Chorus. Cold is an interesting band. I don't know whether you'd call them alternative, or post-grunge rock.
Song:Little Razorblade Artist: The Pink Spiders Album: Teenage Graffiti Comments:No worrying about where this band falls in the music spectrum. It's pure alternative.
Song:Lips Like Morphine Artist: Kill Hannah Album: Until There is Nothing Left Of Us Comments:I guess I'm fortunate. I already have a girl with lips like morphine. The members of this band, apparently, aren't so lucky.
Song:The Diary of Jane Artist: Breaking Benjamin Album: Single Release Comments: Breaking Benjamin is a rock group that hit it big with their first release. If this song, which is the first single from their upcoming sophomore release, is any indication, then their next album will do very well, too.
Song:Bring Me To Life Artist: Evanescence Album: Fallen Comments: Evanescence has their second album due out on October 3rd. This song is from their first album, which came out in 2003. The general rule, as I've mentioned before, is "Chicks don't rock". I'll make an exception for Evanescence, based on the vocals of Amy Lee, which are exceptionally strong, for such a young singer.
